"Not unhappy but.... I had to decide between what I thought was right and what was 'right'. Though the reachmen perhaps acted un-justly I can't say I'll be sad if they win." He thought long for a moment. "I thank you for the position however; and for the men you lent me." "You are not done with it yet. There is another side to this investigation." Selwyn replied, "You must question Marbrand and that Ariel woman. The sword was found on her land, and she is clever enough to frame herself badly. Tyberion wishes to question Marbrand as well, but he might be useful with Ariel. If you need my man Roxton he can help."

"I shall go talk to Marbrand first then." Euric said. "And I'd be glad if lord Roxton would lend me his help." He finally managed a smile. "Where is the man being kept?"

"I had to do something," she said, defensive. "I couldn't take his head because I knew he might be useful in finding Kyma and I would not wish to maim him in any of the more usual ways. He has few possessions, no gold or land or titles I could take as punishment for his deception. So I gave him a wound to remind him all his days of his defiance."

Selwyn brought a hand up to touch at his face and his scars shifted in what could have been a lifting of the brow. "A Queen should obey her own laws. If she does not value them, then how can any one else."

Euric nodded again and shook lord Roxton's hand. "I shall go speak to him immediately. If there is nothing else of course."

Rhaenys winced.
"You're right, but it's done now, and Thatcher lives to serve. What would you have done, in my place?"

Selwyn turned his head and thought for a moment, "Nothing. There is only one reason why Thatcher would have allowed Kyma to hide amongst his men. And that will punish him far worse then a mere scratch on his cheek."

And that will punish him far worse then a mere scratch on his cheek." She gave him a shocked look. "You think Thatcher cares for my sister?" Her eyes narrowed. It was presumptuous at the least for a man of Thatchers's rank to care for a princess. Hopeless too. Kyma wasn't for the likes of him.

"Thatcher was steadfast one day." Selwyn's lip quirked, "And not the next. Love makes a man act stupid. I should know."

Selwyn walked over and shook his cousin's hand, "I am glad you are fit to travel now." Aaron grinned, and turned his head to the side to show off the scar running across his throat. "I don't really hold a candle to you, but I'm getting there. I appreciate your grace's concern though. Four months lying in a bed, drugged with milk of the poppy is not how I'd like to spend my time. If I might be so bold as to ask; what is next from here, my King?"

Selwyn replied, "We move toward Moat Cailin, and the south."
