Daven drank deeply and then smiled broadly at Aranya. "His father raised him to be a bulwark. Tedmyn's Down is a rough place, and without any great resources. Fighting the clans there teaches one how to maneuver."

OOC for Rhodri: I'll be back out of the woods as soon as I can write up a scenario to close out the rebellion-- just didn't have any time last night.

"Sometimes that isn't enough. I admit I was furious when I first heard of this rebellion as I rode in. The last organized rebellion among the clans was..." she cleared her throat. "It was the most dangerous rebellion we have ever had, its architect our most dangerous foe, and in the end it claimed my husband's life. And this is despite my experience, my knowledge, my memories of each clan, my knowledge of the mountains. The rage has still not left me. So when I hear of Roland beating this one down and killing the leader behind it - well, I almost feel like I am personally in his debt."

Roland Royce rode at the head of a victorious column of Valemen. They arrived at the Bloody Gate and Roland spurred his horse towards the keep. He dismounted and went inside, finding Galwyn Fell waiting. He nods his head in greeting.

Galwyn Fell greets Ser Roland Royce. "What news, young man? The men ride tall in their saddles; you must be bringing word of victory."

"Aye, Ser. I believe we have gained the victory sough over the Moon Brothers. I did not require them to bend the knee to Lord Arryn-- that is not thair natural state. I did, however, slay their lord and require a tribute from them to Lord Arryn," Roland stated.

"Good. We'll keep them in their place now. I bring word from the Lord Arryn. He has returned to King's Landing and can receive word by raven. I am to escort Ser Casset's remains to High Heart, his ancestral home. And I am to name you the new Knight of the Bloody Gate, in recognition of your deeds done here."
"It is one of the Vale's greatest honors," Galwyn adds.

Roland could not supress a broad grin that formed on his face. "It is, Ser Galwyn. I can only hope I am equal to the task. Please tell the Lord Arryn that I will do my best. It is a shame that we lost Ser Casset, he was a valiant and stalwart man. His remains should already be ready for travel. I will have them given over to you. Is there any other assistance I can offer you?"

"Keep your scouts in the hills. Other tribes may try and move on the weaknesses of the Moon Brothers. In fact, you might even consider coming to their defense if another tribe tries to destroy them; it will show the other tribes that there is value to paying us tribute, value to being our allies. And make sure no other tribe tries to take over their ambush sites along the main road."
"I will be off now, but you have earned your new title; wear it proudly."
With that, Ser Galwyn Fell's men collect Ser Casset's remains and possessions and depart for High Heart.

A letter arrives from the Dun Fort:
Andalsbane's Bane,
It is indeed a pity we missed each other. The Bloody Gate and the skirmishes with clans were a big part of my childhood, and I would have liked to see the new Knight. But we may yet meet. I trust you will not pass up the opportunity to bloody your blade in battle again.

Ser Roland composed a message to his father, Ser Odhar Royce:
Father, Please give my love to mother. I have been named Knight of the Bloody Gate after defeating a warlord of the Moon Brothers in battle. I hope I am equal to the task. I would like to return to Tedmyn's Down for a visit, but I do not think that will possible. The Realm is troubled, though I suppose word had not reached you yet. The Reach is trying to seperate itself from the throne, based on some tenuous grievance against their now-dead lord. I do not mean to sap your strength, as I am sure the clans remain as bold as ever in the depths of mountains, but could you send the Hillfox? I feel I may need his advice soon.
Roland
