At about the time the 5000 levies called by the Lord Arryn begin to arrive at the Bloody Gate, Ser Hoyle Sunderland arrives at the head of ten men of Tedmyn's Down.
He finds Roland in the keep. "This Reach business sounds a damned bloody disaster. What news, Roland?"
Roland shakes his head, "Nothing new."
The Hillfox shrugs and then smiles grimly. "Well, well. Knight of the Bloody Gate, eh? Tell me how that came about."
He and Roland caught up on what had been happening at the Bloody Gate and also Tedmyn's Down. Ser Hoyle feels something akin to fatherly pride at Roland's accomplishments, and Roland enjoys a chance to feel young again.

Roland summons Ser Daven Hersey. His friend enters, and smiles at seeing his father's friend, the Hillfox. Roland notices that his manner is easy and his face a little flushed. I think he's been drinking again, but he looks like he's in command of himself. "Daven, I need you to ride out with a small force and pay a visit to the Moon Brothers. Check on them and make sure they are getting along okay, and take a gift of food. Be courteous, if we can we'd like them to be our allies."
Daven leaves with his orders, and departs a while later at the head of 35 horse.

Roland dispatches a couple of riders to find Daven and apprise him of the changes in the situation. He is to complete his mission and then return to the gate or catch the army as appopriate.

Lord Pryor, Ser Richard Egan, Lord Wydman, and Ser Roland Royce bent over a table going over a map of the Riverlands, discussing particulars and logistical details of the impending march to King's Landing. Their discussion was interrupted by a page who carried a sealed message to Lord Pryor. He read it, and calmly spoke, "It appears that Aaron Fossoway has murdered the king."
Roland felt his fist hit the table. That coward bastard.

Lady Alla Hunter came riding up to the Bloody Gate. She had been sent home by Aranya as soon as Aranya had taken command of the gold cloaks. She had enjoyed her time in Duskendale and had wanted to fight in the war, but it was good to come home.
Alla looked for the Knight of the Gate.

The conversation among the commanders of the army had turned to the death of the king and its implications. Another page entered the room and told Roland that an Alla Hunter had approached the Gate. Roland nodded and took his leave of the general staff.
He left the keep and waved to Alla Hunter. "What brings you to the Bloody Gate, Alla?"

"May I enter?" Alla said. "I must make for Longbow Hall eventually, but first I intend to ride to the Gates of the Moon. I am Lady Alla Hunter, daughter of Josmyn Hunter, the late Lord of Longbow Hall, and niece of the present lord, Robar Hunter. May I pass?"
When the Knight came over, Alla dismounted and smiled. "Well met, Roland. It is good to be home."

Roland smiled back at her, "It's good to see you again, and welcome home. Is there anything you need for the road?"

"Not much," Alla said, grimacing as they walked into the Bloody Gate. "The roads here are much safer, at least. No kings being killed. King's Landing is a mad place right now. I'm glad to get away. Will you be riding there?"

Roland nodded. "You will notice the army collecting on the other side of the Gate. I will ride with it when it departs."

Alla's eyes widened as she looked. "It is big," she said, looking awed. "I almost wish I wasn't coming home, but riding with you instead."
She smiled and shrugged. "Oh well, it's for good reason. You know why I came home? Lady Aranya ordered me back - I'm to be married."

Roland's eyebrows raised. "Well, that must have been a shock. Do you know to whom?"

"Quite a surprise indeed," Alla said, laughing. "One of the Boltons. He's a bit older than me, but no man would ever object to an eighteen-year old woman with my face, I daresay." Her eyes twinkled with good humor. "I guess it could be worse - I'm going to see my future husband at the Gates actually. It's kind of exciting. It would have been fun to have you for the wedding, though."

Roland grinned, "I'm sure it will be quite the party. It's a shame I shall miss it, as my duty requires me elsewhere it woudl seem. I've never known any Northmen, I wonder what kind of man this Bolton is... and I hope you like the cold!"
