Maekar and Anni's room

Anni rested her hand on her husbands arms she looked at him worriedly

[Marie]

"If I act fast I may be able to manage it before Milo learns I spoke to you, but I won't know whether I recognise the names and, since speed is of the essence, I will want to come and tell you at once. So...if I go now and speak with Milo, you will have to make youself available to me afterwards. Can that be done?" Joanna asked.

[Fel]

Maekar nodded, "yes, I will await you here."

[Marie]

Joanna smiled and nodded.

"I'll be back as soon as I can. Speak to no-one in the meantime."

She glanced from Maekar to Anni and back again.

"If anyone knocks at your door save me, perhaps you should pretend you are otherwise occupied."

She winked.

[Marie]

A short time later, Joanna knocked on Maekar and Anni's door again.

[Fel]

She is permitted entrance. Maekar is still at his desk, waiting on Joanna.

[Marie]

Her face was grim. She shook her head.

"I'm sorry., Maekar. Milo told me nothing. The good news, thoguh is that he seems unlikely to take action against you, so you may be safe after all."

[Fel]

"When Lord Bettley is whispering into the king's ear that I am murdering noblemen I find myself far from safe, but I suppose I will take comfort that he is leaving it at just that."

"Thank you, Joanna," he said, looking at her.

[Marie]

"At least you are forewarned," she said. "That at least makes you safer than you would have been if I had not told you about this. Perhaps you will be able to think of something you personally can do to aid your situation. I, alas, cannot."
