The ancestral home of House Tully stands between the Tumblestone and Red Fork. Surrounded by water it is virtually impossible to storm the walls, the gate only accessible by a bridge. The castle stands in ruin now, with only a single tower still standing intact though pockmarked with holes. The east and north walls both have gaping holes and all the wood outbuildings have been burned to the ground. An eery silence surrounds the keep, making it impossible to imagine the once great castle filled with life and laughter.

Simon orders the men who had followed him to pitch there tents along the banks of the Tumblestone before going off to take a walk closer to the castle. He looked at his former home with sadness. He had lost many friends here to the Others. He had vowed to help rebuild it, now he was finally going to make good on his vow.

As Simon's eyes move across his former home, a flicker of light can be seen through one of the many holes in the still intact tower. It looks like someone has built a fire in there.

Simon stops short, squinting at the light that he had seen. He was sure it was but a trick of the eye..but there it was again. Simon turned and ran back to the camp. He points to three other men, "You three, grab your weapons and come with me. The rest of you stay hear and keep your eyes peeled. There's someone up there and I intend to find out who."
Simon turns and jogs back to the wall with the three others, hammer drawn. After climbing through a hole in the wall he makes his way toward the light he had seen cautiously.

As Simon and his three men come closer to the tower and the light , they can see four men sitting around a fire, a thin rabbit spinning over it. They seem to be lost in conversation and haven't noticed that there are people approaching.
As Simon and his men come closer, a young men steps out behind a large fallen piece of the wall, he has a arrow knocked to his bow and he is aiming toward Simon.
"Who goes there?"
This alerts the other men, and soon the four men stands with their spears to the side of where the man is standing, looking at Simon and his men.

Simon stopped and regarded the man with the bow, glancing at the men around the fire briefly. "Put your arrow down boy, we mean you no harm." Simon hooks his hammer to his belt to show his intent is peaceful. "I am only hear to see who is in here and why. My liege sent me here to begin rebuilding this keep and so you can imagine my surprise at finding you here."

The young man eyed the four men that stood before him, before he relaxed his draw, though he still had the arrow knocked to the bowstring.
"I am the Master of Riverrun, I call this ruin my home, good ser." he waved to his men to relax as well.
"Who are you, and who is your liege? This is the home of the Tully's and as long as there is someone of Tully blood alive, he is to rule this place in whatever state it is."

Simon gestured to the fire, "Do you mind if we all sit down? I find talk more inviting around a fire rather than in shadowy halls."

"You have still not told me your name, stranger and I am not one to invite just anyone to sit around my fire. Give me your name and your liege's name and I will greet you in my temporary great hall." the young man said, but motioned his men to move back to the fire.

Simon looked the man over, "I am Ser Simon Smallwood and I serve Lord Oswell Tully, the rightful master of Riverrun. And who do I have the pleasure of meeting, this new Master of Riverrun?"

The young man's eyes grew wider for a few seconds as Simon mentioned Oswell.
"I am Connor Rivers, bastard son of Ser Renly Tully. The only living man with Tully-blood that has been seen in these parts in the last five years."
He motioned for Simon to come and sit by the fire. The men with Connor had their weapons ready, just in case, but they moved over so the guest could find seats close to the fire.

Simon sat down and stared into the fire. "Ser Renly is dead. I am surprised you did not find his body here. He was cleaved in two by the Others. When we fled only his father and Oswell remained of the Tully line...and now it only Oswell. He will be here in a short time...and will want his castle back. How did you come to be here?"

"Most of the bodies had either been eaten by ravens and other scavengers, or the weather had taken it's toll, Ser Simon. And we have not been here for that long either, not more than maybe three to four years. I couldn't say for sure."
He paused and looked into the fire for some time.
"I came here with my mother and a few of the members of the village I was born in. With the cold weather, we decided that taking shelter here would be much better than staying where we were. There was noone here to challenge me for taking the castle."

Simon nodded. "I don't blame you for coming here. Riverrun had always stood as a place of refuge, I am glad to see that even in ruin it lives up to its reputation. But I only see five of you here, where is the rest of your village? Surely you can not be all that is left." Simon looked around at the ragtag group of men, thinking of the hard times they must have had to endure with no lord to help them.

"We are not the only one's left, the others are either hiding or out hunting at the moment. We weren't expecting guests, and last time we had some, they killed a quite a few of our group."
The rabbit looked finished, and reluctantly the men that had cooked it offered Simon some first.
