She shrugged. So he does not care about me, then? Pity, I thought he was starting to. Unhappy with his answer, Rhaenys looked Selwyn in the eye.
"I could command you to take my name, Selwyn," she pointed out. "I wish to honour my mother's memory by doing as she asked and I fail to see why something that is good for me is not also good for the realm. I am the realm. Do you care nothing for my wishes, save for matters pertaining to the bedchamber?"

Selwyn nodded, "I will do what is best for you and the realm. But this is inconsequential." He rubbed his eye, "If you command it, I will accept it."

"Perhaps I should command it, but I won't. I don't wish to antagonise you, Selwyn. It's important for us to work together. Will the people not think it odd, though?"

"They would think it odd if I did." Selwyn replied, "As your... consort there are no set customs to guide our course."

"No, true. We will have to make our own customs where the old ones do not provide guidance. "
She already had some ideas about the wedding, but she had already decided to keep quiet about those unless Selwyn asked.
"You must tell me if you have any suggestions so that I may give them my consideration."

"I have no ideas. Just try not to embarrass me too greatly." Selwyn replied.

Rhaenys was hurt by the comment but understood why he said it. Selwyn was in a difficult position already and she had no wish to see him made more uncomfortable than was necessary.
"I will do all I can to avoid it," she promised. "I seek only to save the realm and to better it, and to have the people respect and obey us both. I will ask one thing though. Do not question me in public. In private you may do so, if you think it necessary, but never in public."

Selwyn spoke, "I understand. I will do my best."

"That is all I would ask.. In the meantime, I have other people to visit so I'll bid you good day for now."
She gave him a smile and departed.

Talyn arrives, and bows deeply.
"milord, I have much to report. Things did not go exactly as I had hoped," he says bluntly.

Selwyn studied the man closely, "Go on."

"I arrived at Winterfell and met with Lord Tyberion Lannister, and the Lady Stark. I have received word that a number of lords will be arriving here shortly, and have attached a list of them for you," Talyn handed the list of names to Roxton.
"After my business was completed, Lady Stark insisted I remain behind for supper, despite my best efforts to avoid it. During that dinner, I had a confrontation when one of the Stark knights made repeated slurs against my mother. Despite my best effort for a peaceable outcome the man refused to leave matters be. I sought redress, and slew the man fairly. Lady Stark than ordered her men to slay me, although Lord Tyberion convinced her to simply imprison me. Lord Tyberion later sent men to release me." Talyn said, finishing his tale and hanging his head at how ludicrious it sounded.

Selwyn nodded slowly, he studied the documentation that Thatcher had given him, and said, "There are some things that should not be said. I will back you."

Talyn nodded stiffly. This was part of the reason He'd liked and served Selwyn for these long years.
"Thank you your gr...lordship. I should however, warn you of another strange event. Upon helping my release, the man whom Lord Tyberion apparently sent, said something odd. He told me that my release was courtesy of the Lion, obviously meaning Lord Lannister, and said I should 'Let my father know. I can not say if the man was simply jesting, or if there was a more devious intent. I made no comment one way or the other regarding the statement and hurried back to report."
