"It's good to meet you, Lord Varner and Lord Florent. I hope you had a pleasurable journey here. I know that the sea sometimes don't treat us the way we would like."

"You are correct, Lord Florent" Paxter said, as they trotted towards the keep, "the Summer wine is generally considered to be the sweetest, though the Autumn vintages are also excellent, and at times even superior."

"So it seems that we are both correct in part?" Dorian says with a bit of a scowl, "How often that is the case, I will count that as a draw Cyrus with our wager."
He turns towards Luke, "The sea was kind, we had a nice breeze from the North that brought us from Oldtown with much haste. There is nothing quite as exilharating as running the wind on a broad Reach."

"It seems rather silly to bet on a matter of taste, I don't know how you sucker me into these wagers." Cyrus said smiling. He nods politely to the group, and again to Ser Betram.

"Well the question of an individuals proclivity for a certain vintage has been debated in countless volumes, my dear Cyrus, but the literature I have digested clearly indicated that the preponderance of informed speaker's on the subject showed an uncontestable penchant towards the Summer Wine. Had it not been your assertion that we ask the first Redwyne we met, I might have been able to investigate more thoroughly the entire House to vet a person more sympathetic to my position," Dorian says as most of the retainers scratch their heads wondering what he just said.
“Besides it is not as if you want for money, even with the meddling of the Bravvosi in the natural order of commerce towards our fair ports.”

"Neither money nor wine are my central preoccupations Dorian, you do have me there." He gazed at the two Redwyne men calmly.

Luke was growing impatient at the slow trot they were now moving.
"Could we talk when we arrive at the castle. I am not used to riding that much and my ass is throbbing, I don't know about you, but I don't like that feeling."

Cyrus zeroed in on the Redwyne cousin. He disliked the wording in the man's remark.
"I see you acquired the manners of the Free Cities in your travel, Ser Luke. A regrettable acquisition. Anxious though I am to be in Lord Redwyne's warm hall, I wouldn't go so far as to blame more accomplished riders for our speed of advance."

Dorian chortled a little in response to Cyrus's remark, "It is funny though as I recall Lord Varner you uttered something similar when on the deck of our vessel, something to the effect that you couldn't wait to be off that accursed ship and back on dry land?"
Dorian laughed slightly and then turned to Luke, "If you want to pick up the pace, I will race you to the keep wall," the younger Irwyn said bringing his charger up to a gallop with a firm squeeze of his legs.

Ser Paxter's eyes also narrowed at Luke. "I apologise for my cousin, my lords, I hope you do not take offence." But he picked up the speed of the trot and said nothing further until they reached the castle of the Redwynes.

Luke wasn't used to being around lords and riding was not one of his strong skills, but he squeezed his legs the same way that Dorian just had, and soon his horse were chasing after Dorian's.
During the ride, he kept reminding himself, that he'd be out on open sea soon again.

Loren waited patiently at the gate for the rest of the party to catch up, despite his attempt the young Redwynne could not make up the difference in his skill or head start.
"Its all right, Luke, perhaps later you can show me how to handle a skiff in the bay, no doubt I will look as uncomfortable on a sailboat as you do on a horse," Loren laughed as he waited for Paxter and Cyrus to catch up.

Luke laughed. He found himself liking the young Florent lord, which suprised him a bit, as he was more used to spend time with sailor and people of lower standard.
"I might just take you up on that, Lord Florent."

Lord Varner reached the gatehouse awhile after. "and here we are." He said, as they were ushered inside. "Lord Dorian i hope your jaunt up the hill didn't make you forget the seriousness of our purpose."

Luke followed the lords and looked around at the home of his ancestors. This was the first time since he was a newborn he had seen these wall, though last time he didn't remember.
