Mortimer, after looking around for a decent weaponsmith, decides to enter this one, and waits to be helped.

The Pentoshi examines Mortimer with some disdain, as if not imagining he could actually afford the price of his services.
"Yes, what may I do for you?"

"Greetings, ser!" Mortimer says to the man, "I come to you from the West, a humble servant of Erik, of House Coldiron, Lord of Bear Island and Deepwood Motte, High Reaver of the Frozen and Stony Shores, Terror of the North, and Master of Ships of the Kingdom of Westeros. He has heard of your fine work, and would ask you to perform a service for him. He will pay handsomely, of course."

The man nods slowly. "What is it that you seek?"

"Are you capable of reforging Valyrian Steel, ser?"

"Mayhaps. Do you have the piece with you? May I see it?"

Mortimer looks hard at the man, deciding. Finally, he takes the pack off his shoulder, and produces from it a beautiful hand-and-half sword. When he removes it from its sheath, its Valyrian nature is obvious. He holds it out for the smith to see, but keeps a tight grip on it.
"My Lord would have it reforged into an axe. He favors such a weapon, and it is his House's sigil."

The Pentoshi man sucks air through his teeth. "This is a beautiful sword, but it has been reforged before no? This is not its original form? Tell me this blade's history, and I will tell you if I can do this work."

Mortimer shakes his head.
"No, it has not been reforged. It has been an heirloom of my lord's family for centuries, but some years ago it was stolen. The pommel was modified, but that is all. Fortunately, we managed to recover it."

The man examines the blade again.
"This is so. What is the blade's name?"

"I believe she is called 'Kegsplitter'."

"You are a liar." the man says simply. "a sword is not just steel, it is hopes and dreams and nightmares. A sword can not be forged upon a lie, it will weaken it, and make it crack. I care only for the purity of my forge, not your petty crimes, so answer me in truth."

Mortimer smiles.
"Her name was 'Longclaw' before she was stolen. The cravens who took it named her 'Roseblood'."

"And the cravens who took her again named her Kegsplitter." The man said, "The cravens who steal her next time, will call her Greed." The man says, his eyes fluttering as if in prophesy. "I can make your axe, but there will be steel remaining. This I will keep for my own purposes. That is our agreement, do you accept?"

"Sounds perfectly fair to me, and what my lord doesn't know won't hurt him. How long will it take?"
