"This is a thing that can not be rushed. Many things must be in alignment, for us to proceed. Come back in one month, and I will tell you, if we have succeeded."

"Any chance I could see some of the process myself? I'm sure it's fascinating."

The smith looked at Mortimer like he had just shit in a temple.
"Absolutely not. The rituals and processes must be guarded from the unpure." He eyed Mortimer. "No offense."

"Of course. Well, do you know a decent place to stay, near here?"

"There is a hotel a few blocks away, you can try there if you like."

"Will do." Mortimer turns to the door, stops, turns back, and says, "Oh, and ser, if you cheat me, bear in mind that you, your employees, your family, and all your employees' families out to second cousins will experience rather gruesome ends. Good day."
He leaves, for the hotel.

A messenger is sent to fetch Mortimer and tell him that the weapon is ready.

The Pentoshi Smith takes out the axe.
"You can see here that I mounted in on a solid iron handle, instead of a wooden handle. No sense such an expensive piece has it blade chopped off in the first battle. I've done intricate scrollwork around the handle. Scenes of ships and waves mostly." The man shows Mortmer the artistry.
The blade itself is the beautiful part though, the mythic steel reflecting the light in a deadly way, while colors of blue and green intertwine along the side of the axe head.
"There is your Kegsplitter. At first I thought it was a shame to turn such a pretty blade into an axe. But, change is a part of life too. I look forward to seeing you again." He says to the weapon, as he hands it over to Pyke.

Mortimer takes the axe, giving it a few clumsy test swings. It is obvious he isn't much of an axeman.
"It looks fantastic, ser." He tells the smith. "My lord will be pleased, I have no doubt. I would not be surprised if he called on your services again."
He slips the axe into a thick leather bag, to keep it hidden from prying eyes, nods to the smith, and leaves. He gets a room in a different part of the city, just in case someone gets greedy.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Ser Meryn Flowers arrives at the blacksmiths. It had taken him only a short while after asking around before he had been directed to the place where the axe had recently been made; the tale has spread quickly.
Entering the shop, he called out. "Hallo?"

The old smith is in the back, and Flowers can feel the heat from the furnace.
"Yes? What is it?"

"Hello, good man. I have heard stories of an axe recently being forged here, of valyrian steel. My master also has a valyrian job for you to do, with sufficient coin, if you wish. He has a longsword, and wishes to add the steel you have to make it a greatsword. Are you interested?" The knight grinned and brought out a small box, filled with gold coins. "More than this, too."

The man looked at the knight. "I know of no axe ser. I cannot help you. What is it you wish to have forged?"

Ser Meryn smiled, undeterred. "It is a longsword, of this length." He brought out a blunted blade. "It is the exact measurements as this sword; I have not brought it with me for precaution. If you did accept, of course, I would be returning with all speed." Handing the sword to the man hilt first, he said, "If you have any valyrian steel laying around, he will pay mightily to have it forged into a greatsword."
