Lord Gerion watches from the section of the stands designated for the nobles of the Westerlands, with his sons Aurane and Tynian in attendance and his wife Winnifred next to him. His expression is that of boredom though and he spends more time looking at the ladies in their finery than the jousting itself, hoping to catch sight of Annara Hightower. He takes a swig of wine from his glass and snorts at the Royce boy's poor showing.

Gerion applauds Ser Myatt's and Tunberry's victory, oblivious to his wife's attention being elsewhere. While he had no time for this posturing farce of a "sport" he was pleased that his subjects had not faired so poorly as the Royce contingent. He waves his empty wineglass to a servant with a frown, until it is refilled. Even the worst waste of time was better with wine and a full stomach, he reflected as he crunched into a greasy capon.
