Lord Edwyn Grandison arrives at Nightsong with 20 cavalry, 300 infantry and 200 archers in response to the regent's summons.
He sends a messenger ahead to notify Lord Caron of his arrival and sets up camp outside the castle, a short distance away.

A message is sent back telling him a good location twenty miles out where his men can camp, and instructing him that he should come to the keep alone.

Lord Edwyn read the message and crumpled it in anger. The Dornish were on their doorstep and he was asked to camp twenty miles away?
Very well. He would do as he was asked, as it was Lord Caron's wish, but he would stay with his men until the new regent and Edwyn's eldest son Eldon arrived.
He summoned his nephew Ser Harlan and told him that he would be returning with the messenger to Nightsong to act his his uncle's stead. Harlan was to send a message to their camp when Lord Rhodri arrived.

As Lord Edwyn and his troops withdrew to the location they had been advised about, Ser Harlan accompanied the messenger back to the castle.

The castle is a bustle with men. From all over the Stormlands.

Ser Harlan followed the messenger into the castle courtyard. He dismounted handing the reins to a servant. He noted the arms and colors of the men moving around the courtyard. Clearly many of the Stormlords had arrived. He wondered why Lord Edwyn had been commanded to come to the keep alone, when the other Stormlords had clearly brought retinues with them.
Harlan moved towards the keep. He would introduce himself to Lord Caron as he had been instructed to by his uncle.

Lord Caron was in the great hall speaking with three of his bannerlords. They were in a hot discussion which quieted when they saw Grandison.

Ser Harlan walked up to them and bowed.
"My lord Caron, greetings. I am Ser Harlan Grandison, nephew of Lord Edwyn Grandison."

"My uncle sent me." replied Harlan smoothly.
"He sends his greetings to you and to your lady wife the Lady Elinor, his sister-in-law. Lord Edwyn wishes to know how many men he can bring into the castle as part of his retinue to meet with the Regent. He has two of his sons with him and I'm told his eldest son Ser Eldon will arrive with our new Regent, Lord Rhodri Royce. He also wishes to discuss the Dornish troop movements south of the passes."

Caron looked at the lad, "I do not care how many fucking Lordlings he drags into my camp, but if one of them draws steel on another Stormlander, I will cut off your lords cock."

If he was overrawed at the Lord Caron's bluster, Harlan didn't show it. He fought an overwhelming urge to laugh in the man's face, but merely put a look of puzzlement on his face.
"I'm not sure what you are referring to my Lord. Why would we draw steel upon other Stormlanders? As I said my uncle is here to meet the Regent as requested. There may be Grandison steel drawn upon the Dornish in the near future, but certainly not on his fellow Stormlanders."

"There have been five deaths already, and not a single Dornishman in sight." Caron replied.

"I can assure you that my lord uncle will keep his men under control." replied Harlan smoothly. "My lord uncle is not a cruel man, but his men still fear his wrath."
