"Tytos," he said with half a grin. "The boy showed a lot of promise. He was squire to our Master at Arms. Even more skilled with the blade than my brother Garlan had been. He lost both the Master at Arms and his mother within a fortnight, and it has not left his shoulders," Patrek explained.
"He squired for Garlan for a time, but that proved more destructive. The boy became more reclusive, and now balks at most everything, shy and timid."

Rhodri nodded, and said, "Is there anything else I should know?"

"Nothing more," Patrek replied, though held a moment of consideration. "He has been found with sourleaf twice in the previous days. That is all," Patrek finished.

Rhodri raised an eyebrow, "Well I while try and break him of that habit." He smiled.

Patrek nodded. "As you will. Shall I bring the boy back in, Lord Rhodri?"

Rhodri nodded, and then said, "Then you may leave."

Patrek did so, saying his farewells to Tytos before taking his leave.
Tytos came back in the way Patrek had left and stood nervously before Lord Rhodri, as if expecting rebuke.

Rhodri looked at the boy, and said, "What have you learned from your previous teacher?"

Tytos opened his mouth to speak, but paused. He looked from Lord Rhodri's feet to his face. "Ser Erik taugh me to tend to the horse, his armour, and other duties required of me," he answered meekly.
He fidgeted. "He also taught me how to defend myself and sit a horse," Tytos replied quieter.

"Which weapons?" Rhodri asked curiously.

"The sword, the bow, and the lance. But most often the spear, mi'lord," he answered.

Rhodri lead the bow out to where he trained, and pointed toward a spear, "Grab that, and then enter a combat stance. Like you are being attacked."

Tytos hesitated a moment, looking from the spear to Lord Rhodri.
Anxiously, he walks over and takes the spear, feeling it weight. He sets the spear before him, spreading his hands until he is comfortable. He bends his knees and looks at Lord Rhodri.
"What now, mi'lord?"

"Just stand there a moment." Rhodri walked around studying him closely.

Tytos did his best to do as Lord Rhodri told him. It was easy to do, as Ser Erik had drilled him restlessly on his stance and the basics.
Though the pressure from Lord Rhodri -- his idol! -- was bearing down on him, making him self conscious.
