Merlyn slapped his son across his mouth, "And how do you plan on getting our men to King's Landing?"

Isolde gasped as Merlyn slapped her husband. Mark rubbed his face. Merlyn's fingers had left a red mark across the side of his cheek.
"I don't know. I've never commanded troops. But Mother is your wife. Triston and Arthur are arrested too. Triston is your son, ser. Could you leave him to die?"

"March alone into the Stormlands, and start a war that will guarantee they execute your mother before I am within sight of the capital." Merlyn replied.

Merlyn replied with scorn, "There is nothing to do. When you play the game of thrones you live, and die by that game."

"So...play the game. Mother is innocent.. We can pay a ransom, surely, if that will appease them. I know we can't threaten the Vale and hope to see Mother live, I am not as stupid as that, but there must be something."

"They have not offered a ransom. There is no gold I would not pay for your mother." Merlyn replied, "I sent word offering to pay what ever cost they have."

Mark let out a long breath.
"And then what? What must we do next? Has the princess sent word of support?"

Merlyn let out a long breath of his own, "She has not... besides calling up troops she has disappeared from court. Locked away in her rooms."

"Then who commands those forces?" Mark asked. "We should speak to whoever that is, at least. Or...who rules at Sunspear itself if the princess is shut away?"

Merlyn replied, "It is claimed she still does, but at this point I doubt her even being alive."

"Why is that? Do you think an assassin has crept into the castle and murdered her?"
