Marianne's Rooms

Marianne nodded.

"I hope to. I want them both to grow up well."

[Marie]

"So you should. It's what all mothers want for their children and you, I think, are more devoted to your role than I could ever be. I know that your children will grow up to make us both proud of them."

Rhaenys smiled.

Marianne grinned

"I hope so. And I wish that you could meet them now. I think that you would love Adelene. I am already proud of them both."

[Marie]

"I will meet them in time," Rhaenys murmured. "Have no fear of that, my love."

She hugged Mari.

"I am proud of you, you know."

Mari cocked her head.

"Why say that mother?"

[Marie]

"Because it is the truth and besides, of all my children, you are the most sensible and, I think, the best adapted to your position."

Mari smiled.

"Where are you staying mother?"

Marianne was brought back to her rooms by Anni. She stood where Anni had left her, uncertain of where to go.

Anni guided her to the bed. 'Lay down Mari.'

[The Smith]

A Maester arrived quickly and bandaged her eyes, he gave her some of the milk of the poppy.

Marianne put her hands out to find where the bed was and quietly got in.

She touched her eyes lightly for a second.

"Im never going to see my children again." She said, her voice choked.

Anni sat with her and took her hand in hers. 'You dont know that yet.' Anni tried to reassure knowing full well it was not true.

She gave a small bitter laugh.

"I bet that they found a cure for knife in the eyes years ago didnt they.... We both know that I wont see Adelene or Oscar grow up now. I wont see their faces again."

Anni sighed. 'I'm sorry Mari, i dont know what to say, is there anyone you wish me to call upon?'

Marianne could feel the poppy's effects grow.

"Joanna should know.... come back Anni... dont leave me..." She said sleepily.
