Rhaenys hugged Mari close.
"You are sweet to say so, though I know it's not the case. It's clear that you have simpler tastes than the rest of my children, which is all to the good, but I worry that you may get dragged into their affairs whether you like it or not."

"If I am then I am careful not to let that get past me Mother, even you and father were good at shielding me from that, and I hope that I can be now to my little family." Mari said with a small smile.

"If I am then I am careful not to let that get past me Mother, even you and father were good at shielding me from that, and I hope that I can be now to my little family." Mari said with a small smile. "You have a good heart, my love. I pray that the gods grant you the happiness you deserve.," Rhae murmured.

"Only if you are a queen, otherwise goodness is a virtue," Rhaenys insisted. "Don't worry about it, my sweet. I have need of your good heart at present, actually. Out of all my children you are the one who I think will most understand a certain matter. And no, it has nothing to do with Daemon."

Mari cocked her head and tucked her legs under her body.
"Oh?" She asked her mother.

"I'm married. My husband is Ser Richard Mallister, who travelled with me to Braavos and back again."
Rhaenys smiled, her eyes alight with something only she could see.

Rhaenys smiled and nodded.
"He does, my love. Well, so did your father, and your uncle Selwyn, in their time. I love Richard dearly and I know that we can be happy together."

"I am glad, you deserve it Mother. Have you told the others?"

"No, but I will when I can. It's hard, with everyone so far apart much of the time. Besides, apart from Daemon and Joanna, none of my children even know I am not at the Eyrie."

"I think most of us are here at the moment though, except for Steffon and Rodrick. But they have always been more intersted in playing soldiers."

"Yes., those two won't be much interested in their mother's doings now," Rhaenys murmured. "I suppose that is inevitable, in our specific circumstances, but you can learn from my mistakes, Mari. Keep your children close to you, as I could not."
