Aerie Thatcher was waiting, and opened the door for Joanna after making sure she curtsied properly.
The Queen was sitting on a day bed, reading a book.
"Hello Joanna, it is so good to see you. I mean, alone. Those parties are fun but soo hectic you can't really spend any time saying hello to your true friends. What do you have there?"

Joanna held up the basket with a grin.
"Dornish blood oranges. Very sweet, Your Grace. I ate one this morning."
She came forward with a spring in her step, looking very pleased with herself.
"Help yourself, Morgan, Aerie."
She took an orange herself and looked about.
"Do you have one of those little knives for peeling oranges?"

"Joanna, you are a darling, I was just telling Aerie that I so wanted an orange, didn't I Aerie?"
"You did?" Aerie replied, "I mean, yes your grace. You might have mentioned it."
The Queen put down her book. "I don't have a knife, Aerie, do you have any fingernails?"
"Yes your grace." She set to work peeling an orange for the Queen.

Joanna sighed. She didn't want to stain her nails with orange juice
"Would you peel mine too?" She asked Aerie with a sweet smile.
"You look very relaxed here, Morgan."

Aerie handed the orange to the Queen, and set to work peeling Joanna's as well, with a soft sigh.
"I should look relaxed, it's very relaxing, don't you think," the Queen said with a smile, "The view isn't as nice as the one from the Hightower, but its still very nice."

"It is. We are lucky, I think. I wish I lived at Court all the time instead of just sometimes."
Joanna's sigh was wistful.

"So why don't you? I'd love to have you with me all the time. Arya is nice, but Aerie here is absolutely no fun to gossip with at all,"
Aerie frowned as she finished the orange and handed it to Joanna.
"sorry Aerie, but its true," the Queen continued, "And Becca... well, what can I say. She's not very relaxing."

Joanna thanked Aerie with a smile then laughed at the queen's comment.
"True enough. I'm not always relaxing, I know, but I do love gossip."
She broke off an orange segment and ate it pensively before she spoke again.
"Morgan, I'm sorry, but I don't think I can live at Court all the time. I'd love to, I really would, but I don't think Jon would like it. You know what men are, for reminding a woman about family responsibilities. I'll wager Daemon talks to you about such things too."

"About family obligations? Not so much as that. It was pressing earlier I suppose I'd often hear about the need for the King to have an heir, but once Aerys and Aemon were born, he's been practically uninterested in it." She smiled like a girl with a naughty thought, "family obligations i mean."

Joanna ate another orange segment. She wondered if Morgan was glad or sorry that Daemon seemed not to be interested in her any more. For herself she would not like that but she knew some women felt differently.
"Well, I was thinking of that, since my children are all girls, but is not the only thing I meant when I spoke of family," she pointed out. "Does my brother not expect you to take an interest in the welfare of your children yourself? Or do you leave them entirely to the care of their attendants?"

"I visit with them often of course, as any mother should," Morgan sniffed. If she was trying to conceal that the question offended her, she was doing a bad job.

Joanna smiled.
"You are nothing if not dutiful, sister. I am sure Daemon loves that in you. I am sorry if my words upset you. I merely wished to say that I am not sure if Jon will let me spend all my time with you. He won't want our daughters raised only at Court, and if I left them at Runestone then I would look like a bad mother, wouldn't I? I would so love to join you here all the time thouh. Do you think it could work?"
Her tone was wistful but it was clear that truth ran through her statement.

"Oh posh," Morgan replied, "I'll insist to Daemon that you be allowed to come to court, and that the children come with you. Our children should play together. If Daemon asks, your Lord husband can not object."
