Rhaenys shook her head., remembering Dawnrose's letter. She wished he'd been more circumspect.
"Lady Margeary, there is no rebellion and I hope there won't be one. I am here to talk with my lords and see why there have been murmurs of dissent. I will do all in my power to prevent rebellion."

Margeary looked disappointed in a way "My Queen, we have heard of the gathering of lords and just the fact that Tyberion Lannister is there makes the rebellion highly probable. I have no idea what Lord Brynden is doing there though. He seems to blend in the rest of them as badly as lady Stark."

"Lannister has some odd influence over Lady Stark, said Rhaenys, pretending she didn't knw what it was. "Royce is a puzzle, I know, but if he cares for my husband at all he must eventually discover some loyalty to Selwyn's children. My children. I am hopeful that I will be able to wean the lords away from Lannister."

Margeary nodded "A sound plan indeed. But then again, what if you don't succeed to wean the rest of the lords away from him? The consequences could be dire indeed."

"I will deal with that if it happens," Rhaenys answered. "I cannot possibly decide upon a course of action until I know what is actually going to happen."

Margeary nodded "Of course. I simply speak in the name of the Mander when I say that you should be careful. We want the Lannisters to usurp your throne as much as you do."

"Lannister wouldn't dare," Rhaenys said. "he has no claim."

"Yet he has more than half a kingdom. Sometimes, an army is as good as a claim." Margeary smiled

Rhaenys wondered what hte smile meant; it seemed inappropriate.
"that is why I plan to divest him of his 'kingdom,' my lady. He won't be quite so confident if he has fewer allies."

"Of course. But you sent out invitations for all of these lords to come alone. Lannister will smell something and probably prepare them all. It is still a sound plan, though." She nodded "I wished to ask if I may, as a representative of the Mander, stay in Gulltown and act a listener at the meetings with the lords. As such, I will be able to inform lord Dawnrose better of the probabilities, so that he may know how to prepare."

Rhaenys sighe,.
"Well...I don't think that will be possible. You may stay, but I do not wish the lords to feel threatened. I am already [;anning to have Oswell Tully and Milo Bettley present. Another, and someone who is not known to be one of my own people, may be seen as a threat to the lords. They may not speak as freely as I would wish, if you take my meaning."

Margeary seems to become a bit colder "As you say, Your Grace. However, I am sure Lord Dawnrose will be quite irritated when he hears of this."

"We are not. But he won't be satisfied when he hears that his representative has been tuned down and that all the information coming to him will come through a straw. But I suppose this is how it must be." She said

"I do not know you," Rhaenys said. "Do you not see that it would be odd if I were to place that degree of trust in someone who is, in effect, a stranger to me?"
