A modestly sized, yet very strong, castle, Riverrun is at the convergence of the Tumblestone and Red Fork, leaving two sides defended by the rivers. A moat lies in front of the third side, and can be flooded to leave it near unassailable.

Lord Pieter Tully arrives with a small contingent of men. Riverrun is bustling with activity in preparation for the upcoming war. Many supplies are being stockpiled inside the castle, and the two thousand men that have already been raised are seen on the walls and in the yard.

Lord Terrence Blackwood rides hard towards Riverrun at the head of fifty men. They pull up before the walls, and Terrence looks around in evident confusion, failing to spot any of the banners of the Riverlands other than the trout of Tully.
"I must see Lord Tully," Terrence shouts up to the men on the gate.

The men nodded, recognizing the Raven of Blackwood. "Aye, enter but leave you men in the yard. You will be escorted to the solar." The gates are opened to a large crowd of men, perhaps a few hundred, in the yard. Many of them are alerted and watch the Blackwoods enter. Four men come forward to Terrence.
"Lord Blackwood, follow us." Vayon stated, heading towards the keep.

Terrence nods grimly, and follows. As they walk he looks around the courtyard and shakes his head.
"No one came," Blackwood says.

Vayon grimaces, keeping his eyes forward.
"Curse the lot of them. Lord Tully has raised 10,000 men, they will most likely answer the call. At least we can only hope." Vayon said sourly. They arrived at the solar, and Vayon knocked four times, and the door opened to reveal a clearly fatigued Lord Tully.
"Ah, Lord Blackwood, I am glad to see you have answered my call." Pieter stated, looking up from his work.

"I appear to be the only one," Terrence says. "Should I consider my fellow Riverlords," here he reaches into his pocket, and unfolds a creased parchment and reads, "'marked as traitors and will face the punishment'?"

Pieter sighs, rubbing his temple. "6,500 men have answered my call for 10,000. 2,000 go to Seagard instead, 1,500 have made excuses. All the lords who have refused to lend troops and come will be dealt with after the war is over. Until then, they yet have time to redeem themselves."

Terrence nods curtly. It boded badly for a man if he could not even bring his own bannermen under control, but judging by Tully's fatigued expression, he did not need Terrence to tell him that.
"And do you have orders for me, my lord? For which side do we raise our banners?"

"I have thought long and hard, Terrence, believe me. I side against the King. He has done naught but harm to the realm, the proof is in the number of realms which side against him." Pieter said to Terrence.
"They say he is even taking his anger out on his subjects, in Duskendale."

Terrence nods, as though this is the answer he expected. "I can scarcely argue that he is a good man, or a good king," Terrence says, "But I will tell you now, I do not appreciate being lied to."

Pieter looked ready to laugh for a moment, but his face returned to the same tired look. "In all truth I never lied, Lord Terrence, but I did deceive you. I apologize, I did not know where you stood, and at the time I could not risk opposition." He said apologetically.
"I am to converge with Lord Dondarrion's host around the Southern Riverlands. I plan on taking 8,000 men with me, and leaving 500 here. However," Pieter looked at Terrence, "I am unsure of Seagard. I believe them to be siding with the King, and they already have several thousand men raised."

"You plan to abandon the Riverlands, my lord?" Terrence asks. "With the royalist forces in the Crownlands on our doorstep, is that wise?"

"I have raised only a part of the Riverland's forces. If you and your cousins at Stone Hedge raise your banners, the Riverland's will have ample defense. I will send word to The Twins to raise their full garrison, in event the Northerners decide to march in opposition. Your men at Raventree Hall will provide defense against the Westerlands, should Cedric decide to take part."

Terrence nods slowly. "That could work. I think we can count on the lion to stay in his den for this fight. It is Stark that concerns me -- the Twins are strong, but Blackwoods and Freys alone cannot fight off the strength of the North."
