Francis listened to Lord Arryn and caught Seth in the corner of his eyes, sending his apologies as best he could. Than he spoke. "I understand, and if Lord Tallahar accepts, than I can as well. I would offer Lord Rindwynd my support in every way. As for Lord Falgrave's reward, I know he is too shy to ask for himself, so I shall risk to ask for him. I understand Greycopse has a small village of 300 or so. You could expand it 10 fold on all sides, and he would still not have lands which reflect his worth."

Seth was silent for a time, before finally speaking up. "Lord Arryn, I do not believe that honor knows and age, nor does ability. I am young, but hardly the youngest person given a leadership position. There have many instances of young leaders, our late King is an example. I am not so foolish as some as to think I would make the best choice, though I would say not to use my age as an argument against me. You should know that personally."

"Seth, I think well of you, I hope you know that. It does go beyond age, to be honest. You were not born a Reachman, and only recently assumed your lordship. While you are well known to Piers and I, you are hardly known to many of your peers. To unify the men of the Reach behind this peace, it might take the known strength of Barret's brother, Rindwynd, and his Tyrell name," Rhodri explains.
"It is not my intent to slight you. It is an entirely political determination."

Seth smiled. "I have said this myself. I was just trying to make sure I wasn't being withdrawn from consideration based on the year I was born." He turned to look at Francis. "He will be a good choice."

Piers looks at Seth placing a hand on his chin, "I too think you should be rewarded Seth, but my rewards always have a hidden danger. To honor you Seth, I would like to offer you a positon of responsibility. You have proven your honor and strength to me."
Looking to Rhodri, Piers asks, "Would you be opposed to offering him a position in the King's Guard? Or the Commander of the Gold Cloaks? I know Aranya holds that position now, but I think that is only a temperary solution at best."

"To take the White Cloak, he would have to forswear his lands. But he would make an acceptable choice. As to the Goldcloaks, Aranya was the one person I could trust to take the watch from Emelia's hands without the Princess putting up a fight. Now that King's Landing is well and truly under our control, not Emelia's, Aranya would likely rather return to Duskendale or the Vale. Lord Seth would be a good choice to step in," Rhodri says. "We should look to make an accord quickly. Our armies are already on the Rose Road, and bloodshed will result if we cannot announce a permanent truce. I would like to be able to send them a message that a peace has been forged."
"Word has also arrived that Reavers have struck the Shield Islands. Lords Falgrave and Varner should know that they acted on their own, without our bidding, and lords who protect themselves from the Ironborn will not be tried for defending themselves."

"Thank you Lord Arryn. If we are once again to be in the King's peace, can we count on your aid against the Ironmen?"

"We will speak to the Ironmen immediately and try to convince them to give up those lands." Piers replies with a large grin.

"We are still wary that some lords, the signatories specifically, will still attempt to resist our accords knowing that they will likely be tried. We may have to besiege them if they try to prevent the inevitable. As much as we do not want to see the Reach bleed, it is up to each individual lord to lay down their arms and accept the inevitability of trial."
"It would be hard to trust the safe passage of our armies all the way to the Shields, crossing the lands of the Fossoways, and other rebel lords."

"I understand Milord, perhaps if there was an example of a pardon, other lords would be convinced to surrender, whether they in fact receive one or not."

"I believe that is a good point. Tallahar might have some use for us afterall."

"Indeed Lord Arryn, hopefully he can be convinced to be recalcitrant. "

Rhodri nods, and looks to Piers. He then turns to Seth and asks, "What say you, Lord Falgrave? Fancy a cloak of white, or gold?"

Seth looked at the Lords, his face unreadable. It took him a minute to speak up, as his mind was working over the information he had received. He finally sat back, and nodded.
"If you would have me be the Commander of the Goldcloaks, I would do it. In an effort to end this war and keep peace, I will accept the position, on the condition that once everything has settled down, I be allowed to eschew the position and return to my lands."

With the proclamation signed Francis sighed heavily. "If I may take my leave Lords, I fear for the safety of Reach, with the Ironmen abroad in the land, and go to see to our security."
