Jaehaerys sighs. "Oh course, although I never said I know everything by heart. I don't know anything, I only said I study more than most."

"I think by knowing it all by heart makes it easier to ask the questions, that's why I haven't had that many tests, there is too much to learn. But I know it's time that I take some of them unless I want to get kicked out of here"

"I know what you mean. So much to learn, yet only so much time to learn it."

He grinned and looked at Jaehaerys.
"I believe it's suppose to be: So much to learn, yet only so little time to learn it. But I might be wrong."
He laughed after he had said it, showing them he was kidding with them.
"So how was it growing up at Casterly Rock, Maurin?"

Jaehaeyrs laughed at Gideon's correction. "Yes, I have always been fascinated by the Lannisters and Casterly Rock."

Maurin looks at them with enigmatic smile.
"Oh we Lannisters have a reputation, right? It seems that only Targaryens are known to have greater sparks of greatness...or insanity." -He wonders for a moment. "We could have been ruling the realm, had Lord Baldwin not been killed by his mad son." -Maurin speaks with a bit of regret.
"Oh, but actually my childhood wasn`t very dramatic..... I was the youngest child, my mother`s favourite." -"She was a Stark, by the way."

"I've read about that in the history books.. Seems like there's a lot of killers in your family, at least if you look at famous Lannisters, so how does that effect your family name?"
He knew that the question was dangerous, but he just wanted to see what kind of maester the man in front of him would become.

Maurin shrugs nonchalantly. -"Oh, death and killing are inevitable in the politics of Great Houses, aren`t they?" -He gives Gideon an amused look.
"But of course wise men know that violence is used as a last resort."

He nodded.
"Yes, violence is the very last resort, and even then should be thought through heavily before taking the step."
He looked at Maurin
"We, Maesters are not servants of the Great Houses but the realms of Westeros itself, and all of it's inhabitants, from the lowest to the highest of men"

"Of course.... we are also just humans."- Maurin grins slightly.

"There are ways of controlling the anger that results in violence. I've read in 'Maesters of Old' of ways to supress the anger and get the tension out in peaceful ways instead. Maybe you should try it"
He turned to Jaehaerys
"What do you think of all this?"

Jaehaerys smiles. "I think you are very wise." Jaehaerys then frowns, "House Stark avoided most violence. Their reign has lasted tens of millenia, and they have always been just that; Stark, honest, and just."

"Oh, not all of Starks were like that.... and now Boltons rule in the North. We live in interesting times" -Marten turns his look to Jaehaerys, with a smug smile on his lips.
"Anyway, how about a little drinking together when we pass our tests?"

Jaehaerys brow furrowed, and his frown deepened. "The Boltons will only rule until the Star heir comes of age."
"No, sorry. I can't fall behind in my studies for a night of drinks."

Maurin sighs.
"How about you, Gideon?"
