"I was just thinking of going on a holiday, refreshing myself and perhaps make some new friends," Mallery said, smiling but with a meaningful look in her eye. "I was thinking of going to King's Landing, and Terry wants to see the city as well. I thought I might take his cousins along, show them the world. Let the world see them."

Ryan frowns slightly. "The world is not a happy place for Blackwoods any more, Mallery. The Regent has already shown he is willing to harm Horas' kin for Horas' actions. I am not sure if King's Landing is a safe place for Terrence now."

"Ser Benfry is certainly not the type of man to kill innocent children, Ryan. I will take Corri and Alysanne as well as Terry, Cat and Daeron. I hardly think the King's Men will ambush me in the farmers' market, pull the children from my arms, and butcher them. Plus, they say that my cousin Aranya Royce has returned from the east, and was last seen in King's Landing. I'd like to meet her, and you know she was a friend of ours."

"That is... not what I meant," Ryan says. He runs a hand through his hair, which is just beginning to grey. "Very well. Maybe a trip would be good for the children. And there are matters in King's Landing which must still be attended to, anyhow. You may go, but I am sending an escort of knights with you for your own safety."

"Of course, a knightly escort is necessary for both Terrence's rank as well as his safety," Mallery said. "But what matters do you speak of?"

"There are some Riverlanders being held in King's Landing, who have neither been punished nor tried. Lord Keath and Lord Ryger's son have both contacted me about it, and I was planning to send a man to negotiate on their behalf. If you are travelling there anyways, you might as well journey together."

"I will be happy to. Who are you sending, and who is being held?"

"Tristane Ryger and Torrhen Keath are being held. I had thought of sending Graham, but," Ryan gives Mallery an apologetic smile, "Let's face facts, Graham is not the greatest of diplomats. I was going to send the captain of my guard in his stead. A dependable man with a way with words."

"I liked Tristane Ryger," Mallery said. And she met Ryan's smile with a warm one. "I know. Graham is a sweetheart and I love him, but he is not...well. Anyway. I will go with the captain willingly. Why don't we make ready to leave this afternoon?" She smiled at Terrence. "And I will see if the people in the city, especially my cousin, are really as hostile to us as they appear. If someone thinks to foster some of our own - not Terrence, of course - it would be good."

"A good plan," Ryan nods to Mallery, then turns to his young charge. "Be good Terrence, and listen to your aunt."
Terrence grins widely, "I will! Thank you, uncle Ryan. C'mon Auntie Mallery, we need to go get ready to go!" He begins to leave the room, dragging his aunt by the hand.

Mallery smiled, winked at Ryan, and allowed herself to be dragged out of the solar.
