Aranya was still crying and screaming on the floor. Petra knew she worried about Breyden, she was a nice Momma to him, so whatever was happening to her must be important.
Never before in her life did Petra feel like she was the person doing important things. It was always Momma or Aeron or Uncle X.
Yohn was thinking. He was part of this important stuff too so she waited for his answer.

"I ... I don't like it here. The towers are so cold and gray. I don't like it here!" Yohn runs screaming from the hall.

Lord Robar splashed water onto Aranya's face and slapped her cheeks. She came around, blinking back tears. For a moment she stared around at them in uncomprehending silence, and then saw Petra cradling Brynden.
She rushed to them. "Was he crying?" she asked shakily, taking Brynden into her arms. "Was he screaming? Was he crying? Where does it hurt, my baby boy?"

Yohn stalks around the bailey. He has his wooden axe, a gift from Felwick Gower when he had his sixth naming day.

Aranya was suddenly embarrassed. Everyone was staring at her.
"I'd better go upstairs," she muttered, avoiding Selwyn's eye and turning away from the others. She had never felt so disturbed. "I need Brynden with me. I - I am not myself."
She added softly, "Thank you, little Petra, for being such a good little girl."

"I will stay with you. I do not think you should be alone, not until this fever passes," Selwyn says.

Aranya shrugged and then nodded weakly, and they climbed to one of the few heated and cleanly furnished rooms. It was monstrously huge, as everything was in Harrenhal. Aranya remembered with a pang that they had fought for this place only a year ago, when she had been pregnant.
"Selwyn," she said, sitting on the bed and gazing down at the now-sleeping baby. "Do you think Brynden is in danger?"
Aranya's face crumpled as the baby's screams echoed in her mind. The idea of Brynden screaming in such agony was unbearable. Whose screams were those?

"In danger from what?" Selwyn asked, glancing back and forth between Aranya and the child and out the tower window. "All babies cry sometimes."

"Not in my head, when I'm in the middle of a peaceful supper," Aranya said flatly. "They don't scream as if they're dying. And I saw other things..." she shook her head. "I think it's time we just went to sleep. I can't imagine what Becca must be thinking - and right now, I'm too troubled to care, actually. Perhaps in the morning this will all seem a bad dream."
She made up the massive Harrenhal bed for them and when the three of them were tucked in, Aranya suddenly murmured, "Didn't Yohn run screaming out of the room?" She wondered if he had shared her visions, and shuddered. She would not wish them on any child.

"I was watching him, out in the yard. One of the men at arms approached him, and he started beating on him with that wooden axe," Selwyn says. "He was screaming something about seven men, fiery brands, men tied to trees. A forest fire and the stench of death."
"I think my brother's boy is truly mad."

Aranya shot up from the bed. "Your brother's boy is not mad," she said sharply. "Do you think I'm mad?" And she ran from the room.

"Aranya! He's just a boy, he's not like you!" Selwyn grabbed Brynden -- who should be sleeping, but Selwyn didn't want to leave alone -- and tried to hustle after her. The baby was quickly crying.

Petra walked out to see Yohn. He didn't like stone. And anybody who didn't like stone really wouldn't like Harrenhal. It was as nasty a pile of rocks as she had ever been in.
She decided he must be having visions like Aranya, he was screaming in the same way. Yes, he was very important.
Yohn was writhing in the courtyard. Petra just sat down and waited until it was over, occasionally moving a stone out the way so he wouldn't hurt himself. She was good at waiting.
