"Mmmm." She wrapped herself around him, and for a long while, they were lost in lovemaking.
But when it was over, and Selwyn was falling asleep beside her, Aranya said drowsily, "There are reavers out there. You can't go anywhere alone and leave me here."

"Are you going to ride to the reavers with Rhodri?" she demanded. "What if something happens to you?"
She leaned her head back, and felt her baby kick, as if feeling her agitation. "Look, the baby's kicking," she said, putting his hand over her stomach. They listened in awed silence.
Aranya sighed. "All right," the words came grudgingly. "I'll stay here."

Aranya gave a half smile. "Would that I was going with you. Remember when we fought the Battle of the Rock? That was against Callen, and I was leading thirty wildlings. You were inside the Rock though, gone for the wedding and trapped in there, and I had to make do with Chella of the Black Ears and Jach son of Fum." She couldn't talk after that, for laughing so hard.
She sobered and said, "Well, take good guards with you. And...when the babe is born, I'll need someone with a raven to tell you."

Selwyn watched her sleep for a little while, wondering how they would do as parents. He was a soldier, and she was wild. But still, she was the one thing he wanted in life. They would make it work, and their child would likely be as wild as them.
