The castle, once ancestral home of the tullys, is a massive structure of sandstone, triangular in shape, located at a fork of the Tumblestone River. Numerous defensive advantages such as a large ditch and moat make it an imposing castle to take. The lannister colours now fly.

A large, cloaked figure rides up to the gate. He is stopped by the gate-keeper, who demands to know the cloaked man's business.
"I have important news for Lord Steffen."
"Wait there." The gatekeeper shuffles of into the castle, and returns with five more men and Lord Steffen. The cloaked man lowers his hood, revealing himself to be Nealon Spear.
"Let him in." Steffen shouted at the gatekeeper, who obliged.
Steffen heads back into the castle with the hulking Spear in tow. They climb into a room in the south tower, and Steffen closes it, ensuring they are alone.
"What news?" Spear took a moment to drink from a flask at his hip, before speaking.
"I expect you already know about the Dornish. They meen to take the stormlands you know."
"Yes yes. It matters not to me. It is a problem for Dondarrion and the Tyrells, not me. Anything else?"
Nealon hesitated, his eyes darting round the room. "Yes, actually. While i was in Kings landing, i may have discovered something."
"What?"
"I bumped into a familiar looking wild woman outside the gates. She was acting funny, as if she was hiding something, so I watched her, through a crack in a gate. She was with an old crone, and they were doing something to a bundle. Unfortunately, i think the crone guessed i was there, they buggered of, but not before i glimpsed what was in that bundle." He grinned.
"There was, i think, a young man in there, he looked hurt, pretty bad. I couldnt see his face, but i saw his hair. It was Baratheon black, with targaryen silver outlining." Nealon was grinning very widely now.
Steffen smiled. "Now that is interesting." He paced up and down the room. "I know such information would please our rulers, but why let them have it for free? We know the area where young Callen is. Why not take advantage of it ourselves? Im sending you back to Kings Landing Nealon, and im sending 15 men with you. Your to comb that area for Callen, if you spot this crone or wild woman, capture them and find out where he is through them. If you succeed, i will give you your own holding here in the riverlands."
Spear bowed, his sword banging against his leg, and turned to leave. An hour later, he rode back to Kings Landing, this time with 15 horsed men at arms with him.

The rider bows.
"My Lord, the black stag flies over the Red Keep, and the Pretender King controls half the realm. Callen's hatred is for both you and my lord is well known, and he will show no mercy if he conquers the riverlands. He will strip us of our titles, wrest from us our castles, and, in all likelihood, take our very lives. It is to the benefit of both of our houses to work together to ensure this does not come to pass.
Lord Horas knows you to be a intelligent and resourceful man, with many contacts in the West. Help us convince your family to declare against the stag. Failing that, we plead that you use your own influence to raise as many men of the west as you can for our cause. Our lives may depend on it."
The rider bows again, and waits for a reply.

Lord Steffen's reply,
I also wish a Targaryen on the throne, so I will travel to the Westerlands and exert what influence I can.
However Lord Baldwin," he snarls, "Has made hostages out of my Wife and Children so I am at his service."
I will leave immediately.

Balor surveyed the battlements eagerly. Riverrun lay before his sight, nestled between the forks of the Trident. His men had made good time since beaching their ships near Oldstones. There was no hiding them now, not with so many. He had left Bella there to organise them and also to send on the rest of his forces from Pyke once assembled. His initial force was only 5,000 and they were lined up behind him. He smiled proudly. It was the largest force of ironborn seen on the mainland for over 200 years and he would make them remember why they feared us so. The size of his army made it impossible to conceal so they marched openly and made good time towards Riverrun. He looked again at the castle. The lion of Lannister flew from its battlements but there did not appear to be as many defenders as he would have expected. He knew his men were eager for blood but he knew it couldn’t hurt to parlay with the occupants.
He kneed his horse forward and rode towards the castle, his main captains behind him. He knew they'd rather seize it and pay the 'iron price' but Balor did not spill his men's blood easily or without cause. If the defenders were stubborn then he would unleash his reavers upon them. Stopping outside bowshot he hailed the castle "Who is lord of this place? I come to claim it in the name of the Storm King Callen" Balor's lips twisted but he carried on "Lay down your arms and open the gates or there shall be no quarter given!" He sat awaiting a response. He knew the inhabitants could see the large army arrayed behind him in the growing gloom of the late afternoon.

"Ummmm... Lord Steffan is away." A soldier stuck his head over the top wall, "I think he has to order our surrender. I will send a raven."

Balor laughed loudly "Away is he my friend? Well that places you in a pickle doesn't it?" he gestured behind him "As you can see my men behind me are not the most patient in westeros so I'm afraid that makes you lord of the castle for today if no-one else of importance is around". Balor leaned on the pommel of his horse and carried on in a conversational tone "I'm in a bit of a hurry you see, and can't wait for a response by raven. Who knows how long that will take and my men are hungry. I'm sure a smart man like yourself can see my dilemma? I'll tell you what. I like your face, young man so I'll make you a deal. I swear, by your seven gods and my own, that if you open your gates peaceably, then you and all the people inside will come to no harm. If you make me have to come in by force, then I'm afraid my men will become quite angry and I can guarantee no living soul inside will ever be seen again" he finished the last coldly. "You have until nightfall. If I do not hear from you again, you will all die"

Staring across the frozen moat and man yelled, "One moment please."
After several moments, the head comes back up over the top of the wall, "Bite my ass, You Attack we burn the silos." The head drops down behind the wall. Snow fell over the the riverlands.

Balor smiled "Tut tut. Stupid language to use, my lad. Do you want to die? Here I come offering the new King's peace and you throw it back in my face. You think this is the only source of food we have? You may make it more "inconvenient" for us but we'll manage. You however, will be dead and all your women raped and killed and your children sold into slavery. Last chance to carry on living?" he said casually. Lord Drumm growled next to him "If we fight, I want HIM" he points at the man and smiled a wolf's smile. Balor looked at Lord Drumm and then back at the young soldier "King Callen would treat you nicer than he's going to if you refuse us, boy. Choose wisely"

With no further answer forthcoming, Balor turns angrily back towards his men, motioning them to bring preparations for an assault.
They quickly and skillfully beginning chopping down trees and making siege ladders and a ram.
He looked back at the walls of Riverrun and said to his commanders "That moat may be frozen but it doesn't look sturdy enough to hold our weight. Suggestions?" Lord Drumm roared and said "Ladders. Place on walls. We got over. They all die" Lord Goodbrother smiled "Lord Drumm's suggestion is simplistic but is probably the best course of action milord. With their gate up a ram probably won't be much use. We will lay down a section of wood to bridge it, but it will be risky to cross and all of their defenses are based around a gate attack. If we attack from all sides by ladders, we should overwhelm them. This would not work normally, but I see little evidence of a large force present" Balor nodded "Very well then, prepare the men" as they moved away he carried on "And I want no survivors. These people will learn what happens to those who make me wroth"
