The ironborn surrounded Riverrun and begin their assault. Dozens of ladders will be placed onto the walls and the ironborn will climb up them and engage the defenders. Lord Drumm will lead 2,500 men assaulting the main entrance & gate (although as said previously, the gate itself will not be attacked), Lord Goodbrother will lead 1,500 against another third of the castle and Lord Sparr the final 1,000 in the final third. So the walls have been divided into thirds to be attacked, Balor will sit and watch from an elevated position near Lord Drumm,
ooc: The rest of the battle will be in the Battles & Fights section.

Edmure sat near Balor, observing the battle. He was a sailor, and had no aptitude for warfare such as this. He was decent with an axe, but his footing was much more sure on a rolling deck of a ship, than during the scaling of a wall. He leaned over to Balor, "Has a Raven been sent yet? Perhaps to Summerhall, or Highgarden, mabye even King's Landing?

Screams of rape and sounds of laughter rise with a trickle of black smoke from the grounds of Riverrun. Riverrun has fallen, and many reisdents begin to flee the percieved Ironborn threat.

A man rides toward Riverrun he his slumping off his horse. He falls from his horse feet from a reaver drinking from his flask. The reaver finishes his drink before walking over to the fallen man. Seeing he is still alive the reaver grabs a boy to run and tell Greyjoy "that some knight in fancy armor was found riding towards Riverrun, and the Thesk 'Three-Teeth' has taken him prisoner."

Balor screamed "Let none survive!" as he ran through the ruin of Riverrun. All around was blood at death as the ironborn hacked and slayed the inhabitants, men, woman and children. No living thing stirred once the slaughter was done.
Balor walked, splashed with the blood of the residents, amongst his men. They had taken losses but were bouyant and happy with the loot and plunder. Balor ordered medics to care for the wounded and to patch up the rest as best he could. He would leave behind a nominal garrison but knew the real fight lay elsewhere.

Balor looked up at Thesk, one of Lord Drumm's fiercest warriors. He had been the first up the ladders and had aquitted himself well. "Thesk, who is this? One of the inhabitants?"

"Nah Greyjoy, he came up the road. He has three black pups on his on his armor. Thats one of those heraldly things right." Grinning with his bizare smile, he asks, "Did you sample the Septa yet. Tasty?"

"Three dogs is it?" Balor cocked his head at the half-dead knight and kneels to face him at head height "So Clegane, what's a dog without a master? Tell me why I shouldn't finish the job someone else started?" he seemed almost friendly despite the blood and death around him.

"A dog with out a master. Thats a wild dog. Do you need a wild dog." Clegane coughs a bit. "I am f**king cold out here. Bring me inside."

Balor laughed loudly "You are bold and brave, Ser Dog. I decide I like you" he motions for his men to carry the wounded knight inside and gets his personal physican (well, nearest ironborn equivalent!) to attend to his numerous wounds. "I take it Lord Baldwin has decided to dispense with your services?" he says casually.

"Baldwin is dead." Then Clegane passes out from the pain.

Balor looked surprised. Baldwin had seem full of health not less than a month ago. "This changes things slightly" he murmered as he headed off thoughtfully towards Riverrun rookery.
On the way he absently ordered some men to begin restoring the fortifications of Riverrun. Perhaps the Lannisters would no longer sit quietly in their Rock.

Edmure had entered the castle and looked around at the carnage and shook his head. That's when he heard Clegane. "Baldwin Lannister, dead?"

Balor looked round in surprise again, annoyed to be so caught out again. "Ah, Seaworth. I had quite forgotten you were here. I'm about to send a message to Callen on the current situation. Will you join me?" motioning towards the rookery

Edmure nodded, following Balor. As they started climbing the stairs Edmure found a small statue of the maiden leaning against the stone, her diamond eyes already plucked out. He touched the wooden forhead for a moment before continueing up to the rookery. "Luck." He muttered to himself.
