"IS this not a council to voice your opinion on matters of the realm i am just placing my vote against this Large Council that is all my Lord Rhodri. If the King has taken offense to my stance then as i am and always will be a loyal man to Your Grace he could tell and i shall give me deepest apologies to King Callen no one else..."

"It is a council to voice your opinion, but it is not a council to insult your peers."

Callen sat listening to all, and when swords were at the point of being drawn he spoke, "Lords, I ask that you remove your weapons and leave them outside the hall, while I disagree with you Tallahar I will not stop you from voicing your opinion. I called this great council for discussion, not to impose my will on my subjects without reason." He then addressed all, he stood up. "Lords of Westeros, times are changing in this land. There was a time when lords were merely for protecting their people, now comes the age in which we should listen to them as well."

Randal takes a few calming breath after the king speaks and then responds.
"Of course, Your Grace."
He has one of his men take his weapon, but leaves a long dagger still in his possesion, refusing to remove it on the principle of self-defense should one of the other lords attack.

Rhodri Arryn did not wear a sword to this civilized discussion.

As Tallahar had already given his sword to Erik he had non to give but he was still wearing full plate armor and lobster plate gloves that could quite easily kill a man with a forceful punch.
"Thank you Your Grace for listening but i must still disagree the Reach has always looked after its people in all ways and if all other realms took a note from us there would be no need for this Large Council."

Lord Warren Blackwood frowns slightly, but speaks in a far more civil tone than Tallahar. "Times are changing? Kings rise and fall and wars are fought, but life goes on as it always has. I suppose I just don't understand why you seek to punish the lords who support you."

"Hear Hear, Lord Warren you speak a good point, Was i not the first representative of the Great house to join you Callen."

Callen arched an eyebrow, "Punish you? How have I punished you Lord Blackwood? By allowing your family to keep its lordship over the Riverlands? By rebuking the Ironmen who were ravishing your land?" He turned to Tallahar, "And my good lord Tyrell, have I slighted you in anyway? Perhaps making you warden of the south somehow offended you then, perhaps making Bethany my lady wife somehow implied my displeasure with your ardent service." He ignored the hushed whispers and gasps echoing through the room. So the Tyrell girl had not merely been Callens lover, but his queen.

"Yes I thanks you for the Wardenship but who sits on your small council Blackwoods men who fought against you, Bettley a man who served his whole life to a lannister who didn't call for you Your Grace, But who is your hand no not a Tyrell or a Storm Lord but a man without a Hand a man who helped lead against you. That is what I say and why i say the Old Ways should be up held."

Randal, still somewhat angry with Tallahar, speaks again.
"Your grace, my Lord Hand, will you take such offenses, i have had enough, he may be your Warden, and i will respect your decision, but toss him out."

"Have you finished your insults yet, then Tallahar? If so, we can get back to the business of the Realm," Lord Rhodri says.

Callen remained standing, "Enough of this, it's time lords stop thinking of the small council as a tool for reward, but as a burden for those on it. I chose Bettley not to reward, but because he's damned good at finding dragons where nobody thought to look, I chose Horas not because he's a Blackwood but because he's able to find information other's cannot. I chose Benjen Stark as master of law, because the Starks have a reputation of upholding justice. As for Rhodri Arryn he has been an able Hand, and has helped me on multiple occaisions. Even one of your vassals, Lord Redwyne is on the council." He slammed his hand on the table. "Why? According to you it's to reward them. But instead I placed them there because they are good at what they do. The very reason I made you Warden Tallahar. Because you are good at what you do."

"I didn't mean to say you punished us before," Warren says in frustration, "But this large council takes away power from all of your lords, no matter what house they belong to. It was not the smallfolk who secured your crown, your grace. It was us."
Warren gestures around the table at all the assembled lords.

"Lord Blackwood, if i may, you would not lose your power, as the Large Council would not replace the lords," Randal turns to stare at Callen"or would it, Your Grace."
