"Forgive me my lord we were slowed by the snows. Callen wishes to renew the alliance between his house and yours that was forged when Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon rode together to avenge Lyana Stark's despoilment. As such he wishes to bind our houses together through marriage. He also offers you a place on his small council as master of law. The First Men hold the law, and it's application dear, and because of this Callen asks you to fulfill that legacy."

"My Lord", said a messanger who was just riding into camp, "an envoy from King Allard Lannister has also arrived, several days ago. I left as fast as I could to come to you. He also offers terms and would hope you will speak to him"
ooc: sorry for taking over your job Smith, but I posted on the Winterfell board before callen, that I sent a messenger and I want to get my word in also, since my message would have arrived before Callens.

Stark waved away the messenger's words, "I did not ride down here to be bribed into peace. Nor for history lessons. I am here because the insanity of the last few years. We must maintain peace."
"As such I have only two requirements and if Callen fulfills them I am willing to bow to him as King. If not I can not support hims because he would not be fulfilling his duties as King."
"The first is he must marry immediately and attempt to produce an heir. With out an heir there is a danger of more rebellion. It is a King's duty."
"Secondly I insist that the Targaryen line be exterminated. We can no longer risk their threat to the peace. I know some are young children, but alive they are a continuous threat to our realm. If Callen has not the stomach, I will volunteer my sword."
"Run home to your master. And tell him my words. Winter's here, and we must have peace."

"Will you not come down to King's Landing, or shall I inform Callen that you are returning to the North?'

"Are those my choices then? Run down to King's Landing or run away home." Lord Benjen looked at the man sourly
"Does the king send out messengers with any courtesy?"
"I think I will sit here in Moat Cailin a little longer and talk with the Lannister courier."

"I am staying here. A little courtesy is all I wanted." Benjen opens his mouth but doesn't say any more.
His sister Anya puts her hand on his arm, "My brother has nothing else to say, at the moment." She smiles icily.

"And a marriage my lord? Between our houses...um, my lord?" The rider said as he blushed, he was a mere boy of 16, barely come of age.

"I will accept that if he proves himself a true king." Benjen adds.

The boy nodded, still blushing profusely, and then turned to mount his horse again. He paused mid stride and then turned, knelt "My lord do I have leave to go? My lord?"

Stark frowned, "Aye, you do." Looking at his sister he frowned harder. "The lack of courtesy in these Southerns would get them killed in Umber's Hall."
Anya nodded eyeing the boy, "Whatever you say Benji."
