Gwayne, struck by a sudden thought, said to the queen "Your Grace, are you sure you are well enough to dine today? I would not wish you to be taken ill this evening. Would you like me to send for a maester? I have been looking forward to this, but Your Grace's health is paramount. I could not bear to be a bad host. And I would like Your Grace to enjoy this evening too. It can wait if that is preferrable."
Izzy said to the two knights, "Leyton, would you like to show Mace to the dining room?"

"Red or white?" Gwayne asked. "I know you have met my sister, Isabel, ser. Have you met our cousin Leyton?" He gestured at the young knight standing close by. "And Your Grace, I do not know you are acquainted with either of them?" Izzy dipped another curtesy. "White." Mace replied, he admired Izzy after a perfunctory glance at the young man.

Leyton bowed to Mace and indicated the way to the dining area with a gesture of his arm, allowing his guest to lead the way, as he suspected he would wish to.

Izzy preceded the two knights and begana giving instructions to the servants regarding the drinks.
"Please, have a seat," she said to the two men, taking her own place near the lord's seat at the head of the table, as befit the hostess. "My brother sits at the head of the table, of course, and I believe he was hoping the queen would honour him by sitting beside him."
Gwayne offered his arm to the queen. "I am so sorry to hear that you are troubled with a bad stomach, Your Grace. I beg you to tell me at once if there is anything I can do to make you more comfortable. For now, shall we go to the dining room? I only hope the meal is not too rich for you."

Mace sat down easily. He drank from his wine.
Rose looked at his arm a moment, and then took it. "I will make sure to let you know."

"Thank you. I want you to enjoy this evening. I hired a bard to play for us. The first course is soup, so I hope it will help to settle Your Grace's stomach."
The glass of honeywater was set in front of the young queen as Gwayne personally pulled out the chair to help her sit, then he took his own seat beside her. He looked all around the table as the servants brought out the soup.
"I ma hoping to nurture the good relations that currently exist between Oldtown, Highgarden and the Royal house," he said to those gathered. "My chiefest desire is to give my service and support to my queen and her advisors, and, if I should be considered worthy, to be a friend and adviser to my queen.. I'm hoping that my family will help me in this matter."
He glanced at his sister and cousin. Izzy nodded and smiled briefly at the queen and longer at Mace.

Mace sat down easily. He drank from his wine. Rose looked at his arm a moment, and then took it. "I will make sure to let you know." Leyton gave Gwayne a nod, slightly unsure of how he was supposed to aid Gwayne in achieving such a goal. "Is the wine to your taste, Ser?" He inquired politely of Ser Mace.

Rose sipped at the honeywater, and looked at Gwayne.
Mace looked at Leyton and said, "It tastes just like... wine."

Ser Gareth Hightower arrived at the dinner wearing the grey, white and red colours of his house, his cousin and friend Lyonel Costayne accompanying him. Gareth's shoulder length, dark hair was, for once, carefully combed. As protocol dictated he gave a short bow to the guests of honour, as did Lyonel.
"Your Grace. Brother, Sister." Gareth said by way of greeting with a smile that did not quite reach his eyes.

The queen bowed her head at him, but did not speak to Gareth.

Rose sipped at the honeywater, and looked at Gwayne. Mace looked at Leyton and said, "It tastes just like... wine." "That is good, I hope." Leyton replied, sensing that perhaps the knight did not seek to engage in conversation with him. He said nothing as Gareth entered, wondering why his cousin had not extended a greeting to him.

Gareth maintained his fixed smile as he took his seat near to his siblings as his rank permitted. He briefly wondered why his younger, widowed sister had a place of prominence ahead of him. He would mention that to Gwayne later. Gareth slowly poured himself a cup of wine and looked around at the gathering. A knight of the Kingsguard. Expected of course. His eyes lingered on Leyton, wondering what he was doing here. The younger man reminded him of someone but he could not quite remember who.

Mace looked at Leyton, "It is better then tasting like beets."

Gwayne noted Gareth's hostility but deliberately said nothing. He at least would not be the one to make a scene before their guests. He'd find out the problem later, if it seemed important.
"Brother, cousin, please be seated. I'm pleased you could join us at last. Your Grace, ser, may I introduce my brother, Gareth Hightower, a worthy knight and the master of Gale's Wind Keep, in the Stepstones. And our cousin, Ser Lyonel Costayne, of the Three Towers. Gwayne, Lyonel, I have the honour to present the Queen's Grace, Rose Targaryen, and her kinsman, Ser Mace Tyrell, heir to our most noble Lord Tyrell. Isabel's late husband was his younger brother."
