"It can be nice," said Edric, who did not mean to be rude. "Did you already host one of these events or was it the Tyrells? We missed that one, I'm afraid."
Rylene excused herself and made her way over to a servant with the wine tray.

"I have never had to resort to my mind." Aenys replied with a broad grin.

"Your flawless victories in the campaign beg to differ." Oswyn said pointedly.

"They were hardly flawless. I lost more good men then I could spare." Aenys replied.

"Good men are the cost of war." Oswyn said sadly. "Though we conquered lands in a decade that have been bitterly and bloodily disputed for over three centuries. I am sure those men rest soundly with that knowledge."

Rylene excused herself and made her way over to a servant with the wine tray. "Lord Tyrell hosted an event. I don't believe my brother intends to do so. Perhaps later though. He is but newly returned from the war, of course, and would prefer to remain a guest. Lord Tyrell's party was quite pleasant. What of House Stark? Shall you host an event?"

"I am not sure yet," Edric admitted. "I am attending this one just to get a general idea of what people are doing at these parties." This one did not really stand out from any other event he had been to, as Isobel could probably tell from the look on his face.

"If that fall had landed differently for you, would you have rested soundly with that knowledge?" Aenys asked, "I think most men fight for the spoils they will win, not giving a thought to their own possible death."

"Parties are all well and good but they do sort of run into one another, don't they? Perhaps someone will have some games. I think we would all enjoy that." She smiled. "I hear the food is all from the Stormlands though."

"Love of the realm and the united kingdoms at this point is as much part of Baratheon identity as it s Targaryen." Oswyn said with conviction. "The first Baratheon would have gladly died for the realm Aegon forged and I would shame his memory were I not willing to do the same. We are not most men."

Aenys eyed Oswyn closely. "No... no you are not that."

Amelia welcomed Ser Gareth with a smile. "Are you here without a lady on your arm, ser?" she said in mock dismay. "What a tragedy for you. Luckily, however, my balls always attract a significant number of ladies who need an arm to walk around on and a dancing partner. I am sure you will be kind enough to oblige one of them." "Alas, yes my lady. My sister Isabel appears to want to move in higher circles than what I can provide and I did not think it suitable to enter here with a serving maid on my arm." replied Gareth smiling. "And I am afraid my dancing skills are very rusty and I should do little more than shame any lady that has me for a partner." He scanned the hall briefly, a couple of ladies catching his eye. "But you're right. Maybe I could introduce myself to that lady over there. Thank you Lady Amelia." He moved over and took a seat close to a stern looking knight who he estimated to be in his fifties - a Baratheon he surmised and a much younger lady sitting my his side. "The dancing must start soon." he said.

Aenys eyed Oswyn closely. "No... no you are not that." "What of Damon?" he queried "What sort of man is he?"

"Damon... he is a man just barely more child really. He is a man of fire. It is a curse of the dragon blood in our hearts." Aenys replied.

"Fire is invaluable when contained and controlled." Oswyn mused. "Damon does not seem to have those qualities. He must be stamped out before he is allowed to spread and reduce the realm to ash."
