"Good. And I had a proposal, Lord Manderly. Our houses were once good friends. We Starks welcomed you into the North, and in return, House Manderly supported us for generations. There has, unfortunately, been turmoil in more recent years, but I do not wish there to be any discord between us. I would have us be friends, bound by blood, once again."

"My eldest is still unmarried." Manderly replies. "I am sure she would be glad to find a husband."

Eirek smiles at that. "Good. Damin will be pleased to hear it, as I am already. What seems to be a fitting dowry, to you?"

Manderly leans back in his chair, and runs his fingers up and down the hilt of Ice, which sits beside his chair. "Hmmmm.... that is a good question. I feel like you have some amount in mind."

"Not an amount, per se. Your hand is on it as we speak. The blade of my forebears, returned to House Stark." Eirek spoke calmly, fighting down his concern for Manderly's reaction.

Manderly did not laugh long, "Would you have taken the same offer?"

"If I were an honorable man who accepted the sword had been unjustly taken by my predecessors? Yes, I would. But I will sweeten the offer, if you insist."

Manderly said nothing just looking down his nose at the Stark.

Eirek fought his temper down, despite his vassal's clear condescension. "There will be income from the hold in the Stepstones. Taxes on ships passing through. Half will go to you, and your descendants, forevermore, as a token of my gratitude for this match."

Manderly picked up Ice, and laid it between the two of them on his desk, "It seems to me a house would have to be mad to allow their greatest treasure from their grasp so cheaply." He replied.
