She smiled and drank deep, looking at him over the rim of her glass as she did so. Afterwards, she said "It's delightful. Just the right amount of bitterness to alleviate the sweet. I very much approve, though I am sure you know about Dornish wines than I do."
She cradled the cup in her long fingers. "I am curious though, do you have business at court?"

He watched her, such an elegant game they are playing together. He drank from his glass,"Yes we do have different tastes of wine, but the Red is what we are most famous for."
"I have a grandson here as a Ward",he smiled thinking of Marcellus,"He is a good boy, I figured I would pay him a visit and I wanted to see how things are faring in Kings Landing as well."

"How sweet," she said. "Though I must say, you are very young to have a grandchild. Does everybody marry young in Dorne?"

"It depends on the situation", he nodded,"if it is chosen for us and our it is a duty to fulfill to our house, then yes." Then he pondered his thoughts for second,"I do not recall any Martells actually marrying for the love of it." Evan then shrugged lightly,"But I could be wrong."
He took another sip of his wine,"I did not marry for love, it was my father's choice."
Evan looked at her,"But I do thank you for the compliment, my lady", he grinned. "As you yourself are beautiful compared to most of the Reach women I have seen, and I have not seen many."

Lady Amanda laughed delicately at the prince's comment. "Oh, that is quite the compliment...I think? I assure you that my countrywomen are not ugly beasts. I an shocked that you would thnk so," she teased. "But tell me, your wife was Dornish, I presume?"

"I did not mean that as it sounded, My Lady",he chuckled lightly at her response and sipped his wine. "And yes, she was. She was from House Dalt, we married very young", he nodded in his recall of her, he still could not remember her name or even her face.

Amanda nodded, though it was clear she didn't quite know what to say. "Yes, you must have been little more than a boy," she said. "I think it cruel to force a mere child into marriage, but I am sure your father knew what he was doing. But you said 'was,' is your wife no longer with you?"

"I was very young yes", he looked at his glass,"I do not even remember her. She died giving birth to our daughter", he nodded slowly. "I was not present, i was told of it."

"How sad." Her expression seemed to show genuine sadness and she put a hand on his arm. "Women die in childbirth all the time, I know, but that is so sad. That you never got to say goodbye. And how tragic for your daughter as well."

He looked at her hand, and nodded,"Yes, in honesty I didn't truly know the girl. I did what was expected of me." He drank his wine again.
"And my daughter was raised by my sisters and the Septa", he shook his head,"I did not know how to be a father."

"How sad. Nobody knows, until it happens to them," Amanda said. "Even women don't always know. I didn't. confided. I've three children myself, as it happens. My husband died of the bloody flux six years ago. But he was old. And being a widow with an underage son has its own blessings," she said mischievously.

He chuckled,"I guess it does." Evan then looked at her,"I also just recently lost my daughter as well."

She gasped and put her hand to her mouth. "Oh no! How horrid." She frowned. "I heard a rumour, but I am not well enough acquainted with House Martell to have known it was your own daughter. I am so sorry for you."

"Well, it was misfortunate for us, but it was also selfish and a blemish against my family." He looked at her,"She was still young enough to marry again, but now that is over."
He stayed silent for a while, then sighed,"I should have been a better father, but the Gods did not grace me with that abilities."

"But you can make up for it with your grandson, surely? I'm told it's different when you become a grandparent," she said. "My eldest daughter is but recently married. I am quite relieved that I will be able to play with her children but can hand them back to their mother when I grow tired."
