Morrigan approached an office block in the Camp and looked to see if she could just walk in or if there was a security measure at the door.

In fact the entire CAMP was exactly that, a camp, surrounded by a twenty meter high chain link fence topped with razor wire. There were armed men at the peripheral, and in two tall towers near the front gate. Men with body armor, assault rifles, and dogs with steel jaws were checking vehicles and people as they entered.
"Stop." the Merc standing before her asked. He was holding a data pad, and looked at Morrigan with a hint of disinterest.
"What's your name and business?"

"My name is Morrigan," she said. "I come seeking work."

The man laughs, "ain't never heard that before. Most just show up for the free room and board. What can you do Morrigan?" The man asks.

"I can write," she said. "Do figures. Use a computer. Other things too, though I'll keep that to myself for now."

The man raised his eyebrow, and snorted with mirth. "Alright, Got any weapons on you? Have any implants? Cyberware, bioware? Nanotech?" He gestured at a large phone booth sized device standing next to him, "This thing will tell us if you lie, so better to be honest if you have it."

"Only this."
She produced the wand but held only it firmly.
"No implants or anything, I swear it."

The man looked at the wand cautiously, "It's a weapon?" He asked.

"It can be, but I rarely use it for that," she said. "It's more for personal interests, sometimes business also."

The man blinked several times, clearly confounded, "Give it here," he said. Holding out his hand.

"I'll get it back, won't I?" She asked, keeping hold of it.

"No weapons permitted inside the Camp," he said, gesturing to a large wooden black box at the feet by the testing machine he had indicated earlier. "Put it in there, then step inside so we can scan you."

She put it into the box then stepped inside.

There was a series of beeps, then a bright green light shined in Morrigan's eyes, and made her temporarily blind. There was another beep, and then it stopped. The man looked at his pad.
"Says you're clean, go ahead inside. I think Carpenter has been looking for an assistant, why don't you try her, she's in the Science tent, just past Administration." he pointed, and Morrigan could see small wooden signs laid out to point directions through the maze of small two and four person tents to the larger tents which housed the canteen, the hospital, the administration, and other services.

Morrigan headed through the camp, looking around as she did so. She followed the signs until she found the administration tent. And then she found the right one and looked around to see if there was further security or if she could just walk right in.
