"With who?" Dunnock asks.

Maerys waived to Ser Derek before running up,"Is this one of the new ones?"

Derek pointed at MAerys, "With him." He said to Dunnock, "Be kind to him."

Dunnock frowned. "I thought you wanted me to fight him," he says, and his tone implies that those were two mutually exclusive things.

Derrick laughed, "This sparring not war... remember that."

Maerys smiled,"Awesome, first to spar with the new kid." He ran and grabbed a chain mail hauberk along with a great sword. He threw the hauberk on and grabbed a great helm before coming back to the two,"Are you ready?"

Dunnock jams a helm down on his head and holds his axe and shield ready. He remembered when his father had accepted a hedge knight into his service, with his son as his squire. Dunnock remembered how that boy tripped and fell the first time in the training yard, and how all the other squires had picked on him from then on. Dunnock would not let that happen to him, even if it meant beating this skinny, pale boy before him into paste.
Greatswords hurt, and had a long reach, but they were hard to use if someone got too close to you. So when Dayne asks whether he is ready, Keath responds by bullrushing him, shield up and axe ready to strike.

Brandon enters the Training Yard and stands watching a stranger and the boy from Starfall. It was Dayne something Brandon was sure.

Finn stuck his tongue out. "Had you any thoughts of marriage before Lord Hightower made his statement? Or interest in other boys?" he asked, waving the dagger in front of him in a protective motion. She stood in a defensive stance opposite him, watching to see if he would make a move to attack. "Um. Not really. In the back of my mind I always knew I'd have to marry or be a septa. I did want to be a septa until I was about thirteen, but then I realised septas aren't allowed swords. So I stopped thinking about it. But Maester Lymon says my mother wrote to ask him to find me a husband. So there's no getting away from it," she said. "I was never interested in boys particularly. You know that, Finn. I don't giggle and flirt the second some boy looks at me."

OOC: Is it okay if this is post Arrival Feast?
IC: "Oh," Finn said, "Seemed a boy at the feast had an eye for you, so I thought I would ask."

OOC - sure, that works for me
"Oh. Yes. You mean William Mallister? I only just found out about that," she said. "And he's younger than me, anyway."
She said the last decisively, as if it made all the difference.

Finn nodded, "I just didn't know if you had any interest," Finn said, "I would hate to interfere with something if you two had legitimate feelings, just because Lord Garet said so."

She shook her head.
"It's just friendship. For me, anyway. William's a sweet boy. I like him, but I'm not in love with him. Don't blame him, Finn. He 'll get over it and find himself some other girl."
She forgot that maesters weren't supposed to have women.

Finn shrugged, "It does not bother me. What did you think of their putting us at the head table?" He asks.

"Oh. That was strange. I didn't feel comfortable with it. Not because of you, or what Lord Hightower said," she added hastily. "But I didn't like having everyone looking up at us. I bet they were wondering why we were sat with the family."
