She still wasn't sure how he would manage but she launched herself at him, aiming her sword in a low blow to his leg.

Finn hopped side wise and whipped the cloak out to wrap it around her sword hand. With the cloak extended she could see the training knife he had concealed behind his forearm. He smiled at her and yanked her forward towards him.

Mariya cursed in a most unladylike fasion as she was dragged forward.
"Hey! That's cheating!"

Finn ducked behind her and put the wooden "blade" against her throat. "No it isn't," Finn replied, "it's fighting. Anyway that trick only works once."

Finn laughed, and let her go, "Don't pout," he said. He took a few steps back and raised his blade in front of him, keeping the cloak out in front like a shield. "Okay. Let's try again."

"The only proper battle is the one you win," Finn replied, but this was not one of them. Mariya tagged him several times, and he grunted painfully.
"Youch!" He exclaimed, as she whacked him on the hand and he dropped the dagger.

She grinned in victory and stood back to let him retrieve it.
"Cockiness will get you nowhere," she said. "I was always taught that. And sometimes, you just have bad luck."

" I wasn't being cocky," Finn replied sullenly, and rubbing his hand.

"Does it hurt very much?" She asked, sympathetic now. "I hope I didn't break your finger?"
