Ser Ryon examines the dagger more closely, looking for the tell-tale signs of Valyrian steel. Then he wedges the blade flatly underneath the edge of his chair and pulls the hilt upwards with all his might. A common dagger could break under such stress, but it was said Valyrian steel would never break.

The blade does not quite have the look of Valyrian steel, but it does have a dark color then true steel. The dagger does not appear affected by the force at all.
Julio smiles, but says nothing.

Ser Mandon looks dutifully impressed. Ser Ryon looks as if he has found an interesting challenge. He lifts the blade from the floor and rests it edge up on the table. He draws his own belt dagger, a well-made thing of castle forged steel, and presses down hard, attempting to cut a notch into the merchant lord's dagger.

His own blade suffers far more then the Alchemist's dagger.

"This is very fine craftsmanship," Ser Ryon says, finally speaking. His voice is level and calm. "Is this alchemist of yours able to make them en-masse?"

Lord Julio nodded, "He is. It is a slow process, but one he has been perfecting for a long time now."

Ser Ryon turns the blade over in his hands. "I think there are plenty of men in Westeros who would leap at the chance to buy such steel," he says, "But the price must be right."

"Of course. You are looking for a distributer for your wine, and I my steel. We can both agree that the even at the same weight my product is much more valuable then yours."

"Harder to sell," Mandon comments. "Men drink wine until their heads spin, and if they like it they'll keep drinking the same wine again and again. But most men only need one dagger."

"Yet that one man will pay hundred times as much for that single dagger, especially if it is Alchemist's steel. Will he not?" Julio replied.

"They might," Mandon says. "Is there anyone else selling this steel in Westeros right now?"

"I have not even started selling the weapons here yet." Julio looked at the man and smiled, "I have begun the process of arming my own men with them, but for the time being I would like my men to be the only ones waging war with these materials, on this side of the Sea."

Ser Mandon looks to Ser Ryon. "If you will give us a moment," Ryon says. The two men lean together and confer back and forth through whispers. After a time they separate.
"Let's talk exclusivity," Ryon says. "We will sell our wine to no one else on your side of the Narrow Sea, if you sell your steel to no one else on our side. The exact details of how much wine for how much steel can be worked out by our people."

Julio smiled again, "I would prefer that, and would agree to that with one term. You must guarentee to not sell to any one that intends to sell these weapons in the Free Cities. I do not care if a handful of these weapons make it back, but no bulk sales to merchants from my side of the Sea."

"We will make that very clear," Ser Ryon says. "And we will make sure there are consequences for any merchants who attempt to sell on this side of the sea."
