Rodrik scanned the nearby coastline, looking for any hamlets or towns close enough to the water to be worth raiding, but if there were none, he would turn north and return to Harlaw with his booty.

Nothing of note along the coast disappointingly.

The next day, early in the morning, the Open Wound spotsr two war galleys sailing south. When they spot his ship they set out in a pincer move, one sailing southwest, while the other while the other makes a line just east of the Ironborn vessel.

Rodrik inspects the flags and sails of the enemy ships to determine their origins, while signaling to Erik and his newly captured vessel with a shield of polished brass that they used to relay messages at sea. The other captain was ordered to swing east around the vessel moving due south, to catch it between them. He was aware that Erik's ship lacked the compliment of raiders stationed on the Wound, and he ordered those men to be ready for a boarding when the second ship turned to approach from the south west.

They both had the Lion of house Lannister flying high and proud. When seeing that the Harlaw's planned to fight the ship heading due South, slowed immediately. The other ship shifted course to make way for Harlaw's at full speed.

Rodrik turned the Wound suddenly as the western ship approached, so that it would not be allowed to rake the side of his vessel and instead meant to meet them head on. The captured galley drove toward the second Lannister warship, attempting to ram it.

The Southerly ship was called The Cat's Pounce. It fired first a scorpion, and then several volleys of arrows at the captured galley.
The more Western of the two ships was called the Cat's Eye. It adjusted course in an attempt to rake the Wound.

Rodrik direct the Wound at the Cat's Eye, hoping that Erik's captured ship would be able to ram the Cat's Pounce and keep it occupied long enough to deal with the other ship as to not be caught between two enemies.

The Cat's Eye continued toward the Wound, and barrage of arrows launched too early and fell into the sea. Again the Cat's changed its angle of approach so it crush along the port side of the Open Wound
The Pounce launched for artillery and arrows at the captured trading vessel. It slowed, and fires began crackle across the deck of the craft.

Rodrik altered his ship's course to pull up alongside the approaching ship to avoid being raked, so that his men could throw over grappling lines.

The Pounce unloaded again, and again into the ship. The small crew of men labored on, even as the flames of the ship began to burn. The trading vessel did not hit the Pounce with its ram, but drifted between it, and the Wound
As the Open Wound grew closer to the Cat's Eye it was hit by two waves of arrows. And even though the Ironborn were prepared, men were lost. A singe shot from the scorpion brushed the deck of the Ironborn galley, and smoke began to rise from several coiled piles of rope.
The Lion ship smoothly crashed along side, and the cracking of wooden beams and oars could be heard loudly. Grappling hooks were tossed from both sides.

Rodrick prepared his men for boarding, leaving a few to fight the fire, and when the ships were bought together he charged at the head of his men brandishing an axe in each hand, howling for blood.

A final barrage of arrows took the ironborn in the face. Many fall to that instantly. The upside was the first men the Ironside crashed into when boarding were the archers, and they made easy meat as they tried to flee the reavers.
Soon though armed warriors were crashing into the reavers. Swords and axes crashed into one another. As the swords men attacked spearmen supported them from behind, sneaking through lancing attacks where possible.
Rodrick had no problem with either, and soon he had a hat trick, slaying an archer, swordsman, and spearman. His men were not fairing so well. The lion's men were well trained, and working together, even if not as skilled as the individual reavers.

Rodrick looked for a man in command; anyone with more ostentatious garb than the rest, or someone who was obviously giving orders. Assuming he could pick one out of the melee, he would move in to kill him, to disrupt the cohesiveness of the enemy force and shake their morale.

Rodrick looked for his enemy commander, and because of the combat raging about him he could not spot any who would fit that role. Another swordsman came at him, and he gutted him like a pike. The man fell dead on top of one of the men Rodrick had already slain, so he stepped atop both men's corpses to get a better view.
Looking about he easily spots two men standing in the aft. The pair are protected by two swordsmen, and one of them is screaming at the top of his voice, the other just stands there, seemingly almost bored, if it were not for the intently focused look upon his face.
