OOC: Lord Flint was assassinated a long, long time ago.
IC: "Lord Umber? A simpering fool." He did not seem to notice that the same thing could be applied to him. "My lord uncle, Lord Manderly, well of course he's a Manderly since he's a my uncle, so that should be obvious. That he's a Manderly I mean, not my uncle." He gave a weak smile.
"Anyways, the Lord of the White Harbour would be most glad to rule in Roose Stark's stead. Or mabye the young lord should start to rule himself? He's almost of age is he not? Only two or three more namedays."
"On an other note Lord Horas, with Piers Bettley's condition not improving, perhaps it is expedient to choose a new Regent? I believe you asked me to support your claim during the first time, but then of course, Piers Bettley won the day! I have decided to fully support you now in your bid!"

OOC: Ah right, I forgot about that. Of course I'm sure there still is a Lord Flint, though he wouldn't be the same guy.
"Thank you for your advice, Lord Jerard," Horas says. "Though you have gotten ahead of yourself. The King Regent is Piers Bettley, and he shall resume the post once he recovers. Until that time I shall make decisions, as is the authority of the Hand when the king or his regent is indisposed."

Nehmen frowns at Manderly.

Francis maintained his smile, but shoot his head as if disappointed.

"This is all very heartwarming." Seth said, sitting up from his formerly languid pose. He looked so very tired.
"What does this mean for us, however?"

"Of course, of course. We all hope he gets well, Piers Bettley is indespinsible to the realm. I just mean to say that I fully support you, as you were so adamant that you were the right man for the job."
"Ah well, I suppose Piers proved you wrong there." He nudged and gave him a big, fat wink, as though they were sharing a big secret.

"Could we perhaps set conditions for receiving the Regency, and than see which Lord fulfills them? Perhaps The one who captures and surrenders Lyas to us, If we fail to intercept him before the Boltons rise, than the first to move against them?"

"Your going to hold a contest? For rulership of the realm?"

"For Regency in the North. And it wouldn't be a contest, but proof of allegiance and loyalty. Frankly any lord who couldn't meet that standard wouldn't deserve it anyway."

Francis raised his eyebrow, waiting for the fumbling northman to elaborate.

"You think that the northern lords will fight over a regency that will last what, two more years?"

"Indeed. How foolish of me. It is an empty and troublesome gift. Certainly we can't afford to bother your Uncle Lord Manderly with such a waste of time either. Give the job to a simpering fool like Lord Umber. It's only two years." Francis' lip curled into a half smile.

"I think it is unwise to throw the regency out as a prize, lest we become saddled with a regent grossly unsuited for the task. Though there is no reason it cannot be used as a reward for loyalty."
Horas looks towards Lord Manderly for a moment. "Ah, I almost forgot. I have been meaning to ask you to look over the tax records for Oldtown from the year 512. It is very urgent, and I can trust no one other than the Master of Coin himself to do it. You should get to it quickly, Lord Jerard."
