She half smiled and sat next to her brother.
"You know drinking as much as you do still isnt good for you Steffon."

"It's better than being sober right now," he said quietly, taking a long sip.

She frowned.
"What is the matter brother, other then what our siblings are doing?"

"Ah, and there you hit the nail on the head. I might have expected this from Daemon, but I never thought Joanna capable of such implacable cruelty. For the first time in my life, I am ashamed to call myself a member of our family," he replied with a bitter chuckle.

Mari nodded slowly.
"I do not agree with it either and I feel sorry for the Queen. But I did not come to talk of Daemon and Joanna. I wanted to talk to you of home."

"Aye, I will be leaving soon. I came to attend court and take part in Lord Conwell's tourney, but now I have no desire to remain here, to take part in Daemon's farce of a court. These rumors of the High Septon are right distressing as well. No, I think I shall be leaving quite soon, though I would like to speak with Daeron before I depart," he added.

"Will you allow me to come with you Steffon? I want to be back with Tybolt, and I cannot travel to Blackhaven with a child on my own. I know that I am not your favourite sibling right now, but please allow me to come."

"Mari, you are my baby sister and nothing you can do could ever change that. Of course you can travel with us; I plan to head to Blackhaven myself, though by way of Storm's End first. Your husband and I must have words, and it cannot be put off any longer. How many knights did Tybolt leave with you? I brought twenty of my own guards, but with your men added we still ought to make good time down the Goldroad. Will you be able to ride, or will the babe prevent that?" Steffon asked.

"I have none Steffon, we went straight to Runestone when we arrived back in Westeros, Tybolt went to see you a few days after we arrived, he said that he was going to Blackhaven first though." Marianne said. "Adelene can ride with me, but Joanna asked me to take Cassana and Eleyna with me, I dont know if they can ride yet or not."

"Now that she is playing at being Queen, she has no time for Lord Jon's daughters, is that it?" Steffon asked, with another bitter laugh. He finished off his whiskey.
"Why are you taking them, why not send them to Runestone, to their home? I mislike the idea of travelling with a wheelhouse, it will greatly slow us down and leave us open to attack along the way," he said.

"Eleyna is ten now, Im sure that she can ride a pony and Cassana with her. I said to Joanna that I would, she wants them with someone that she can trust, and it is good for my daughter to be with someone other then me and Tybolt."

"Very well. I don't disagree that those girls should be away from court; the less influence their mother has on them the better, perhaps they will not grow up to be conniving whores," he said, as the bartender refilled his whiskey.
"You know, you are welcome to bring Adele to Storm's End. Rhaenya is almost one now, and I am sure Catelyn would love to have you both around. She's quite fond of you, you know. I spent many nights alone, before she forgave me for driving you away."

"Adelene." Mari corrected softly. "And I will come, as often as I can, but I need to be with my husband. I know that the way I did this was wrong, but I couldnt have married Lord Oscar. Tybolt treats me well and I do love him. I did try to tell you, back in the city but you ran to the Lady Wylde before I could."
"I wrote to you Steffon, I dont know if you ever got it, I had no way of telling after it was taken from my hands."

"You should have come talk to me, instead of running away, told me the truth. Joanna came to me, after you had left, she told me of Lord Oscar's more... bizarre, persuasions. I assume you knew of this, and that is why you would not marry him?"

Marianne stood, her eyes blazing. "Joanna told you? Thats how the rumors spread. I should never have opened my mouth."
"Yes I knew, and yes that is why I refused, but I promised him that I would never tell you or Tybolt. How could I have? If I had told you then you would have told everyone at the time."
