"Ser Robert Redfort wrote to me speaking highly of your contribution during the campaign against the clansmen," he said, drinking his wine.

Rory smiled proudly, "It was nothing milord. Simply lucky." His finger began to move along the smooth face of his wine glass.

"Is that modesty, Ser Rory, or do you really think so? I would like to get a measure of your skills."

"I was taught that humility is a rare gift, and one what we should endeavor to strengthen at every opprotunity." Rory replied, "My mother was quite wise."

"And yet there is dishonesty in humility, but I will not press the point."
"Ser Robert has taken leave of my service for an extended period of time, and I require a replacement for his position. Someone who can be a general to my troops and a protector of my keep while I am taken with court duties. Do you think you would be able for this position, Ser Rory?"

Rory nodded, "It would be a great honor."

Maekar nodded, "good, I am glad to hear it. I would like you to return to the Eyrie and take up duties as it's castellan then."

Marianne knocked on her brothers door. She bit her lip as she waited for him to answer.

She is let in, and her brother stands at the window looking out with a large glass of wine in hand.
He turns to look at her, and seems pleased to see her, though as usual it is hard to be entirely sure.
"Marianne, I had heard you had returned," he said. "Wine?"

"Thank you Maekar. " She said with a smile. "Yes I'm back, finally. Dont know what Steffon is going to be like."

He poured her a glass and gestured to seats by the fire as he took one of them.
"Steffon is no doubt angered by Daemon's actions, but there is little he will be able to do about them," he took a large sip of his wine. "He has made a series of missteps lately, and he is wise enough to know he must toe the line now."

"Like what?" She asked momentarily distracted about the reason she had come to see him.

"Chasing you away, for starters, then placing a bounty on your husband's head. Many in the family were displeased by this. Then he embarrassed Daemon with the dispute with Lord Wyl, where he burned down one of Wyl's villages searching for an outlaw named the Vulture King. When Lord Wyl confronted him about it, he challenged him to combat, and lost. He was forced to pay reparations to Wyl, and took a rather severe injury in the fight."

"Is he alright? I wrote to him when I was on Braavos, but I couldnt give him the address because he would have known where Tybolt was and easily sent someone after him."
