Runestone: Maeakar and Anni's chambers

[Fel]

"They did not know. We were unable to catch anyone but cat's paw. They did help us find Victor Hardfall's female acquaintance, she claimed Victor had left the city, likely to White Harbour or Gulltown."

[The Smith]

"He is dead. Killed to keep quiet no doubt." Milo said simply.

[Fel]

"Unfortunate. It would seem he alone knew the identity of the whomever hired his gang to kill Lady Aryanna. But if he is dead than perhaps the attacks on the girl's life will end."

[The Smith]

"The man was a hired goon. We are both smart enough to realize that he was not working on his own." Milo replied.

[Fel]

Maekar nodded, "no, and I said only perhaps. It may be that in having to kill off Hardfall, the one who hired him will be dissuaded from pursuing Aryanna any longer."

[The Smith]

"Well Hardfall has been dead for longer then the most recent attack at the Eyrie." Milo replied. "So that does not hold water."

[Fel]

Maekar frowned, "then it is unfortunate that Lady Aryanna has chosen to abandon the safety of the Eyrie. Likely there will be another attack soon, but there is little I can do to help her."

[The Smith]

Milo shrugged, "A moving target is always more difficult to hit. I am surprised you allowed her to leave if you feared her safety so?"

[Fel]

"The most recent attack has shown that the Eyrie is not impenetrable, but I still believed it was the safest place for her. Despite this, I am not in the business of holding young girls in my castle against their will."

[The Smith]

"I am in the business of convincing young girls to do all sorts of things. I could have helped you." Milo laughed. "Sometimes a fool must be protected from himself."

[Fel]

Maekar nodded in agreement, and allowed Milo to continue speaking.

[The Smith]

Milo smiled, and added, "I do not think you like me much. I could be wrong, but I think I can see the hate around the eyes."

[Fel]

"An interesting turn of conversation. What do you think this dislike stems from, Lord Bettley?"

[The Smith]

"The way you act Prince. When you look at me, and the way you crinkle your nose like I smell bad." Milo replied, and sipped his drink.

[Fel]

"You misunderstand me. What do you believe to be the cause of this dislike?"
