"No one has." Ganieda said. "After the war we were put to peace."
She caught the handle deftly and offered it to Arya. "Here, if you would like I can show you a little. Nothing big like what I did, but small blades, in case you ever run into trouble."

"I don't really want to touch such things after what happened." She shook the image from her mind. "Ladies like me aren't fit for those." She pointed with a small hand at the dagger.

"I was a lady once, as was Rhaenys." Ganieda said softly, her dark eyes seemed to glitter in the light. "We fought, both of us did."

"I didn't mean offence, that was just a different time. No one would take me seriously if I wielded a blade like a man."

"Not all blades are suited for men Arya." Ganieda said, "But the offer is open to you, if you ever want it I can teach you to defend yourself until help comes."

"Even one as small as this?" Gen asked. "Or even one that you would use to cut your meat. Not all knives are as big and heavy as swords, it is just easier with one of them."

"I can see the use in knowing how to wield a blade, but knowing doesn't help if I can't carry them to protect myself." She said, getting frustrated.

Ganieda laughed. She took Arya's hand and sat with her at one of the windows.
"Lady Aryanna, you dont always need to carry a blade to be able to get hold of one, and anyway, when I was younger we had ways of concealing a knife even when at something like a party."

"How did you do that?" She couldn't think of any places herself. She only had space for a kerchief sometimes and that was it.

Gen smiled and tapped her boot.
"There are many different ways Arya. I know one woman who hid it on a garter that she had under her dress."

"It must have been wierd to walk like that!" She exclaimed, and thought how it must have felt to adjust walking. "Yes, I guess putting it in a boot might work, but I don't wear boots that often. I'm just impossible! Sorry, it must drive you mad."

"Not at all, I would have taught my daughter this..." Gen looked away and then seemed to come back to herself. "But there are ways, Even sewing a little pocket or something to a petticoat under your dress, where it is easy to whip out."

"I see, you should look over some of the clothing I have here to give me some ideas. I want to avoid anything scandalous as much as possible." Normall she wouldn't entertain the idea but she was incredibly bored and it was something new to talk about. "I stabbed a man and killed him, but I was lucky that one time."

Gen gave a small smile. "The first one is the hardest, and you will remember that always." She warned. "Hopefully you wont have to resort to that again but there are ways around that too."
