Nervous, excited and angry at all once, Joanna moved her hand from Daemon's and looked up at him.
"Daemon, am I not woman enough for you any more, that you must take a mistress?"

Daemon looked at her, and raised a single eyebrow, "It was after that night that you told me to take a mistress. I did not think you would want to know who she was. You were hardly friends when I first took her. I was not drunk that night. I remember everything clearly."

"So you let the rest of us make fools of ourselves while you were clear-headed? That was unkind," Joanna said. "And really, how long did you expect to hide this liaison? It would have come out one way or the other. A concubine would have served much better and not distressed poor Anni with feelings of guilt."
