Tomas smiled, "As you say milord." he twirled his spear in his hand, and took a position.

Lord Redfort grunts as he hits the ground, once upon on the ground he is able to look up at Tomas and say "Good fight, I surely enjoyed it, though I will say would have been much more enjoyable if I was the one looking down at you, instead of the current situation."

Tomas smiled and extended his hand to help Jon to his feet.
"Don't think of it that way. Every blow is a lesson. Better learned among friends."

"Quite right you are." He accepts the help up and brushes himself off. "Better to improve yourself against a friend then kill yourself upon the blade of an enemy."

Tomas nodded. "You both fight very well. The Redforts are still warriors of legend, as in the days of Garret Redfort."

Lord Jon smiles at this comment. "Thank you, I hope to aspire to be as great as my great great uncle Garret one day, but I think I may have a long way of to go before that happens."

"Well, I'd recommend earning your fame against men, not dragons." Tomas said with a smile, "Honors won are good, but preferably not posthumously."

Jon laughs, "And now I am going to have to agree with you again, I would rather have time to celebrate and enjoy fame then die trying to reach fame against a dragon."

"it's worth perfecting the combat arts for their own sake, in any case, "Tomas suggested. "I think mastery of any difficult skill improves your ability as a knight. Look at all the knights of legend. They are almost always described as excellent Lute players, or singers, or dancers, or poets, or what have you. In many ways I think we've become too single minded in our devotion to warfare," Tomas said.

Tomas is sparring with two young squires, using a sword in one hand, and a parrying dagger in the left. When he sees Robert enter, he quickly finishes the two squires off, smacks them with the flat of the blade, and tells them to do exercises to strengthen their sword arms. Then he walks over.
"Ser Robert, I did not hope to see you again so soon! How do you fare?"

"Ser Tomas," Robert said, with an abashed smile as he scratched the back of his head, "well enough, I suppose. They say there is no success without determination. I was wondering if you would permit me a second chance at sparring with you."

"Certainly. Would you prefer I remain with the spear, or would you like some practice against an opponent armed differently than yourself?" Tomas asked pleasantly.

Tomas nodded, and picked up a blunted sword and a round oak and iron shield. "Shall we begin then?"
