The kindness in Ser Tomas forced a laugh out of Robert, which he was immediately sorry for as a sharp pain hurt his side from the effort.
"I'd rather be too good... than not good enough... think nothing of it...." he wheezed.

Maryn disregarded the man's gesture and whistled a short tune before looking over the weapon rack, "Are swords the only weapon you know Ser?"

"My preference is the spear," Aerion replied.

Robert turned to his brother. "Ah... Jon... good of you to join us," he said straightening himself up despite obvious physical pain. "Ser Tomas was just instructing me in a lesson in humility."

Tomas nodded, "Your brother is a very good spearman. But I recommend he study the Dornish techniques. They are quicker. In the north, spears are largely wasted being set for charges. That is good, but it can be so much more."

"Ah interesting, I'm only passingly capable. The swords and my hands are my main weapons." Since Rhaella had not seemed to show up he decided to take up his time with training himself, "So a friendly bout then?"

Aerion smiled. "A bout would be good." The man picked up a spear with a blunted tip, and stretched his back.

"Brother there is no need to hide your pain in front of me." He turns to Tomas upon hearing his remark. "I will have to agree with that statement. I fear that those not of Dorne believe that spears are nothing more then just a wall against a charge, and this saddens me somewhat due to knowing that spears can be used for much more."

Tomas nodded, "There is a weapon for every situation. I find it disheartening that too many men focus on one weapon to the exclusion of all others. I think it makes them poor knights for it. But spears are good." He smiled and patted Ser Robert on the shoulder.

Aerion cleaned off his spear, and clicked his tongue, as he noticed some of Maryn's blood had splashed his white cloak.
The maester awoke Maryn with smelling salts, and bore him on a stretcher.

He drifted in and out until he was finally set back into his room to rest.

Lord Redfort grins back "Perhaps we could do a quick spar also, if you can put my brother to such a test it begins to make me wonder how I stand up against one such as yourself."

"I am going to take a spear, it would be bad if i just up played the spear and then decided not to use it." He walks over and grabs a practice spear that fit to his liking.
