"Ah, it seems like it then. But what of your family, what would they think? It is honourable to forsake having a woman, but it must be hard."

"They are deceased and long past carrying." Aidan replied, "It would be hard to make such a sacrifice, especially when the land is so full of intriguing woman." His open appreciation of Arya made it clear who he spoke of.

Arya giggled briskly and her cheeks turned a slight shade of pink. "Yes, well that is the only downside that I can see. I still believe some of the kingsguard to be quite charming, even moreso when they wear the white. Hmph. The only equivalent I could see for women is becoming a Septa, but I wouldn't consider it."

"Not even to serve your king?" Aidan nodded, "It is a large sacrifice to be sure. The gentle touch of a woman can heal a man's soul." He sighed, and tapped his knife against his plate in thought.

"If he asked me to serve him as a Septa I probably would, but I don't think I have the character for it, and he wouldn't ask me against my will. I am very much inclined to be a lady." She folded her hands neatly in her lap, "I hope I am not adding more difficulty to your decision making. Becoming a Kingsguard is one of the highest honours of arms in the known realms."

Aidan nodded, "I know. I know I am capable, there is none as good with a spear as I. Yet it seems like such a sacrifice. I think if I were to decide to accept I would want to live my last days to the fullest before taking those heavy vows."

Arya tapped the side of her mouth with a thoughtful finger, "Well, there is always the position of Master of Arms, perhaps that is another way you can serve the King. How would you live out your "last days"?

Aidan tilted his head, "I would want to find a pretty young lady, and woo her. Take her for long walks in the gardens, eat dinners alone with her, kiss her out under the stars. Things like those."

"I see, well it would not be fair to the young lady if you did woo her, and then joined the Kingsguard." She smiled at him sadly, though she thought his plan highly romantic.

"You are right. And if I feel in love, that would be tragic. The kind of happening stories are written about." Aidan replied.

"Yes, Ser Aiden, I know my stories quite well and they do not end happily, though there is love, and love is one of the greatest gifts given by the Gods. Heed my advice, and ask to serve the king as his master at arms here in the Red Keep, so that you can train more able warriors to his grace's service."

Aidan smiled confidently, "I have never felt love. I have enjoyed the embrace of a woman's arms, but never her heart. I think that may be for the better. You can not miss what you have not ever tasted."

"I know the love only I have for my family and for the King and Queen. I have not met a man that I have fallen for. I disagree with what you say, because your eye will always catch sight of a wondrous fruit, your nose will always recognize the scent of a lady, your ears will hear the voice of a melodious song. If you have no taste you will surely have another sense for love."

Aidan nodded, "You raise a good point." He studied her again over his plate, and breathed in deeply. Sighing he added, "You might very well be correct. I am more torn then when I sat down with you. Being raised to the King's Guard is such an honor for one of my background."

"Oh no..I never intended to bring you into more confusion. I'm sorry. Now I feel the fool. I do agree that the Kingsguard would be a good path for you. You would have brothers and a family of your own to love as well."
