"Lord Wylde has no reason not to allow that. I shall have something to say about it if he does, I promise you." It was clear that Joanna was deadly serious. "I wish that Blackhaven were closer to Runestone, though. It would have been sweet to have you close to me." "It is not too far Jo, anyway, I can hardly stay in one place forever can I?" Mari smiled. "I guess another plus is that I dont have to see Steffon all the time when I marry!"

Joanna smiled. She didn't have her sister's feeligns about Steffon, perhaps because she saw him rarely now.
"Steffon's not that bad! He wants only what is best for you and for House Baratheon. I am quite sure that he loves you as a brother ought."
She stopped and looked hard at Marianne.
"Do the two of you quarrel?"

Joanna ordered her cousin showed in at once. Still seated, she beckoned the younger woman over.
"Aryanna, welcome! Come sit with Marianne and me. How are you?"

"Hello, it's good to see you've returned to King's Landing. I'm doing well and was wondering when next I would see you." She gave kisses to her cousin before she sat with the other two ladies. "I hope I am not interrupting." Arya gave a warm smile. "But I wanted to see you for advice."

"Oh. It seems that all my kin have problems of one kind or another at present," Joanna said. "Fortunately I happen to like considering problems and how best to resolve them. Do tell, cousin, and I will advise you as best I can."

"We all know to come to you or to the Queen. And I am just wondering about marriage, for I do not know much of it, and only recently my brother Rhaegar mentioned that it was time I considered looking at least."

"Yes, men do that," Joanna commented. "They forget that the whole thing is much easier for them to deal with than it is for us. You are young enough not to have to rush the matter, but a betrothal is perhaps all to the good if you are not ready to marry yet. Has your father not put forward any suitors for you?"

"No. I have expressed that I'd like to make up my own mind. You are right, I need to rush into anything. There are plenty of candidates that have come to King's Landing. How do you find your marriage with Lord Royce? Were you afraid?"

"Not at all," Joanna said. "I was apprehensive about the wedding night but no more than that. Jon and I were friends for years before we married so I knew there was nothing about him to frighten me. Have you any notion which houses to consider?"

"A well standing house, possibly rich so that it allows me to live comfortably. And it should perhaps have good access to King's Landing, should I want to attend court. Hmm, so you were friends for a long time. MAybe that is a good idea to see if the man really will love me and so that we can see how we fit together."

"Yes, that sounds good. I doubt you would be permitted eight years of friendship before betrothal but I'm sure Uncle Euric would be willing for you to wait a while so you could be sure of your decision."
Joanna smiled warmly at Aryanna.
"So, you wish to be near the captial. Well, the Crownlands houses aren't very distinguished. How about the Riverlands? Aunt Kyma and Uncle Talyn may know which lords are unwed."

"I don't know about that." Arya thought, "I have heard that the Riverlands are not what they once were. But maybe, I will consider it. And you are right about the crownlands houses." She shook her head in dismay, "IT may take me years just to decide on a region."

The princess answered with a smile and a hand on Aryanna's arm. She was sympathetic to the situation though envious of her cousin's free choice.
"So how long will your father give you to make a decision?"

Ary sighed and shook her head, "I don't know, but I assume he will broach the issue with me sometime soon. I don't think he would force me considering how he and mother were. Both you and the Queen are so happy, I envy you both."

"You will be happy too, provided you choose the right man."
Joanna spoke with confidence. She believed no-one would dare make one of her kin unhappy. It was their right.
"You might consider the West, if the Riverlands do not appeal," she suggested.
