There is very little nearby, but eventually they come upon a miller's home, the mill turning from the power of a small babbling brook nearby.

Ser Kenneth calls out, "Good day is there anyone about?"

eventually the door opens, and an older man, with a long gray beard and wearing a red cap peeks out. He is holding a crossbow with quarrel nocked and ready, and levels it at Kenneth.
"You, what do you want bandit, I have nothing to give you but a bolt between the eyes."

"I am not a bandit, I am Ser Kenneth," the knight says cautiously. "I have come to ask for use of your mill so that me and my associate can plan our rescue of the lady Webber who the bandits have taken,"
"I am the astonishing Jonathon Biggs," the Dwarf says proudly careful not to get in the old codger's sights. "You can just call me Jonathon or Jon," he says helpfully.

"Well... I don't know. I don't trust me no dwarfs. Dwarf knocked up me sister. Nasty brutish little fuck he was. You can come in Ser Kenneth, but see that that one behaves himself, or I'll fill him full of quarrels quick as you please."

"Thats horrible, I can assure you that Jonathon is quite well mannered, ain't that right," Ser Kenneth says stepping into the threshold.
"Oh yes ser, very well mannered," he frowns a bit at being treated like a dog but follows behind the Knight.
"Now Goodman, it seems you have dealt with these bandits before, is they anything you could tell us about them?"

"There's a lot of them, I can tell you that much. They demand grain for their horses, and bread for themselves. I've about had enough. I'll need to leave the area soon if they don't quit their extortion. They ride out in groups of twenty or so, every few days, Usually south, but not always."

"I suppose they always leave a few men behind, when they leave" Ser Kenneth says, thinking for a while. "I believe I can help you but we'll have to rescue the Lady first, Lord Webber will crush these bastards but only if he knows his girl is safe. By chance do you have any ale or other hardstuff I could borrow?"

The man looked at Kenneth and frowned, "I used to brew a little bit of my own ale, but the bastards took that too I'm afraid. I've got burlap sacks for storing grains, and a donkey, and a few shovels and tools and things, but that's about the extent of it."

Kenneth thinks for a second, "well it would have been better if we had some brew, Jonathon is a lot funnier after you've been drinking,"
"Hey wait a minute, I am pretty funny sober as well," the Dwarf said.
"Funny looking maybe," Kenneth says laughing. "Anyways I was hoping that we could hide out here until most of the men are out on their patrols. Then we send in Jonathon to distract the group while we sneak in and rescue the girl." Kenneth says to the old timer.

"I thought you wanted to get rid of them? Here's your chance besides all I would need you to do is cover me from the woods with your crossbow."

"Boy, there are a hunder' a men there, at the lowest, and they've got bows, and mail, and horses. Maybe I get one shot off with this crossbow, but that's the end for me after that," the miller replies.

"Well that's why were going to wait until a lot of them are out patrolling, do it at night and hopefully Jonathon over there can keep them distracted while we bust her out. If we had wine or ale we could get them nice and drunk also but you said that you don't have any," Kenneth scratched his head.
"Unless there is some angle I am not seeing," he pondered that thought for a second. "We can't fight 'em and after what they did to that holdfast over by Horn Hill don't see them as being men of a lot of words."

"You one of Webber's knights? That why you so interested in all this?" the miller asks suspiciously.
