Renly had been letting them squabble like children, "Now let me put this proposal in front of you. There are 5,000 men coming to Highgarden and I can assure you that the small Mander Fleet will aid you in this invasion. I suggest that we use those men instead of going all the way up to Old Oaks. There is also enough men there that we only need Far Reach Sailors no soldiers. I may also remind you that if this fleet at the Shields is defeated it will leave the Iron Isles almost undefend something else that can be sacked."

"Perhaps Lord Renly has a point. To sack the fleet at the Shields would leave the Iron Islands open. We could then raid the islands and perhaps force the Ironborn into a delicate position. Of course this is all assuming we defeat the fleet."

"It's less defeating the fleet and more placing troops on the Shields. the 5,000 men that is at Highgarden easily out numbers the force holding the Shields."

"Yes, but to do that it seems we would need to defeat the fleet or at least distract the fleet."

"I am not the naval commander so I leave that to you Lord Redwyne."

Lord Irwyn shrugs, "I say send the whole fleet smash what ships the Ironmen have and then use what is left to ferry the Lord Hand's men and the Mandermen to the Islands. There is no threat to Oldtown now except the Ironborn at the Shields. I figure Lord Baratheon can figure how he wants to take the Keeps once he has the ships, no reason telling the Lord Hand how to suck eggs."

"I agree. With no threat in sight we should use our full force, and smash them in one blow eliminating the threat entirely." He nods.
"I would like to take command of the fleet if you'll allow me. I know little of the commander of the Ironborn at the shields, but I have been a sailor my whole life and I look forward to finally proving my worth."

"Hmmmph," Irwyn said, "I guess a Redwyne has always commanded the Far Reach Navy but with such an important matter perhaps it would be better if left to someone with more recent experience, the Ironmen paid the Iron price for those Islands and its not like they are going to go quietly in the night."

"Blood must be payed in blood." Davydd slammed his hand down. "The Ironmen and I have a debt to settle. I am an able commander I assure you, I will prove myself worthy of the command."

Davydd waited awhile and then spoke again.
"I will take our ships to the Shields and liberate them. With the Queens word I will sail. Are their any in disagreement"?

Irwyn looked at Lord Varner and then his cousin from House Florent to see if they had any objections before speaking.

Ser Lewys shrugged when his cousin gave him a look that seemed to ask if he had any objections.
"House Florent have told you all their objections to the plan already, but Lord Redwyne seems to determined to do this no matter how much we keep trying to make him see reason, so I say let him do it if he gets the Queen's permission. It's his own men he throws away, and however much I hate to see good Far Reachmen die, I can't control how he handles them."

Davydd shakes his head. "Typical talk from someone who has no stomach for such things. I have not seen House Florent raise its banners in defense of the Crown. If you are a true loyalist then you will lend your aid. If not your men then your sword. My hope is to unite the Far Reach not to divide it. I will play my part now I ask you to play yours."

Varner snorted derisively, "I hope your sailing is better than your oration. And House Florent has answered the Crown's call. They were at Horn Hill, and followed orders to go to Old Oak. The only one around this table who hasn't been pulling their weight and bled for the cause is you, Lord Redwyne, so I wouldn't go casting aspersions on other's loyalty. I suppose I don't object to an attack on the naval fleet, as long as its not Far Reach troops used to storm the Shield keeps, that seems a proper job for Mandermen or Crown troops under the Hand, unless we're like to see something from it."

Irwyn nods, "I agree with Lord Varner, the Crown needs ships. . .so if your inclined to help then you can commit your ships to the cause, between you and the High Towers you can man all of your ships, but I don't see any reason to provide more then that when Lord Renly says he has Mandermen to fill them."
