"It serves a purpose, Queen." He twisted the last word with disgust, "It will greatly please this Prince of Dorne."

"i know, but it smacks of vengeance rather than justice and I do not see the sense in prolonging a man's suffering more than is necessary."

"True vengance would be served if I could skin him all before you burn him. Burning smacks of revenge to me as well." Aldric replied.

"Perhaps a little," said Rhaenys with a shrug. "But it is also a method of execution. You will think me possessed a weak woman's heart, I know, but I have no desire to watch a man skinned. Burning a man to death will be painful, certainly, but I believe it may also be swift, especially if we use Elannyria's fire. I just want Thatcher dead and gone, Aldric. Burning him to ash will achieve that. He cannot possibly ressurect himself if he is burned to death and the ashes scattered to the winds. If that is done then he will cease to plague either one of us ever again."
She paused.
"How many of your lords are present here? Are they trustworthy? It was my intention that Lord Trant would need to speak with them to ensure that they did nothing without our cooperation but perhaps that is no longer necessary. How long will it be before Thaddeus arrives? I am anxious to have the business done with."

"Only Dalt is here. The rest stayed home as I commanded." Aldric replied, "As for Thatcher, his date is here but I have heard nothing from him."

Rowan clears his throat slightly having kept silent until now the tedious debate over the manner of Thatcher's death seeming a bit premature.
"Why do we think Thatcher will show? If Prince Aldric is correct that he has no intention of trading Princess Aurora then why would he come here? Do we even have the Dragon Eggs that Thatcher wanted?" Rowan coughs, "I mean that must be what he truly wanted, and its something we could never give so why ask for it?"
Rowan looks around uneasily, "if he knows we can't trade the Dragon Eggs then why ask for it unless he never expected to make a deal in the first place."

"I think the implication is that the Martells know where the eggs are and did not give them to Alysanne," Rhaenys said. "i do not know the truth of that but I am sure it is what Thatcher beleives. I think he means to foment trouble between Dorne and myself by succeeding where my emissary failed. The move would, of course, gain him greater power too. The man erought himself back to life. It's likely he knwos how to hatch a dragon too."

"Or maybe he wanted to create a distraction here to cause trouble elsewhere," Rowan says. "It troubled me earlier that you, your hand and most of your small council would be away on a mission but it did not really dawn on me until Prince Aldric said 'that Thatcher had no intention of delivering Aurora'." Rowan said scratching his head.
"What if we never found those missing eggs because Thatcher or the cult already stole them?" Rowan speculates, "he specifically asked for them since he knew we could not deliver them and would come running to try and negotiate leaving him open for other mischief?"

Rhaenys sighed.
"Yes, that is a possibility. Still, we must at least try to find Aurora and get her back, if she lives. And I have unfinished business with that bastard."

Rowan looks towards Prince Aldric, "right then. . . well the Prince has said his Lord and Ladies won't cooperate and even if they did we are still absent three Dragon Eggs so we cannot meet Thatcher's demand," Rowan sighs.
"So if he shows up and I believe that is a big if, how are we going to one keep Aurora alive and two prevent Thatcher from getting what he wants at a minimum and at best flay or burn him alive as you two elegantly alluded to earlier."

"Capture and torture him." Aldric snarled. "And we do not have your precious eggs. It is foolish to think so." He snapped at the Queen.

"i don;t knwo the answer," Rhaenys said.
She turned to Aldric.
"Your kin hasd the eggs at one time. How is it that they are now lost?"

"We gave them back to you, so it is clearly your sister's fault if any were lost." He replied.

"My sister only gave me six," Rhaenys said. "There were nine when we left them in Dorne and Alysanne only found six."

Aldric nodded, "Maybe your mother hid three secretly. I do not know. It is just as likely as my father stealing them."
