"I would not be able to fulfill the duties regularly, so perhaps Lord Frey could take that position." Lannister replied easily.

"That surprises me," Rowan said, "a man with your natural abilities, I would have expected you to be able to manage multiple tasks well with little effort, after all you did mention your interest in the Lord Hand position. . ." Rowan pauses and then feigns distress, "I hope you do not think the offer an insult," Rowan says, "the Queen's choice for Hand was a difficult one and she felt it important to show her committment to her husband's family," Rowan pauses.
"Oh and it is unfortunate but Lord Frey could not accept the position because he is to be nominated for another important role which would still be vacant," Rowan sniffed.
"Its a shame really, as the realm would have seen the offer as just the thing to heal the rifts caused by this misunderstanding," Rowan shook his head sadly.
"Well you will at least tell the queen yourself that you cannot accept her offer in person, surely you are not too busy for that, your absence at the Coronation would surely send the wrong message to the people?"

Tyberion laughed, "I never once thought the Queen would name me hand. I simply meant some one experienced as myself. As only the West needs rebuilding, as the Others were remarkably nondestructive captors. So I can fulfill that job better in my own land." He nodded his head, "I will go home, but I am eager to see if the Queen upholds her own laws. It is clear Lord Thatcher fermented dissent, and it is also clear that we never entered the Crownlands, so we did not break a single rule of the Queens new law." He looked at Thatcher, "Isn't that true." He smiled lazily, and it was plain on his face that he never intended a single trooper to enter the Crownlands.

"Your intention was plan, as made clear by the letter Lord Frey sent me." Talyn said, raising a letter,"This very clearly orders every Riverlander to raise 100 men and join Frey to march to King's Landing. Which is against the law." He mock offered it to Lannister before pulling it back, "You may read it, if you like, but I'm sure you already know what it says, since your letters to your lords likely read the same."

Tyberion laughed, "And we sent you the correct letter because we know how loyal you are to your Paramount Frey."

"A letter sent, is a letter sent Lord Lannister, and it is written proof of illegal intentions. Trant, you forgot to mention the most important part didn't you?" Talyn had a pointy toothed smile that suggested violence.

Rowan looked puzzled, "what part is that Lord Thatcher."

"That this army must be immediately disbanded, and its lords attend her grace for her coronation, or they will be named attainted traitors, and punished accordingly, along with any who resist," Talyn said.

"Of course we plan on disbanding. Every Lord here intends on attending the Coronation and Tournament, how else can we with out disbanding. To do anything else would violate the law." Tyberion replied.

Talyn snorted, "and it will have only taken you two tries, I suppose that's the best we can do."

"Regardless of that letter you clutch we have not broken the law." Lannister replied, "And if a woman says she is going to murder her husband, and yet he does not die, she is not guilty. Lord Frey simply writes bad orders. Are you going to argue for the man's competence?"

"If a woman conspires with others to kill her husband, than she is indeed guilty Lannister," Talyn said icily.

Rowan glares at Thatcher, the man had some severe anger issues, although of course he had been in the trenches while Rowan was still breast feeding.
He interrupts the quarrelling men "I did not think it was necessary to threaten Lord Lannister so, as he had clearly expressed his intent to go home and disband his army, the next step was to explain to him why his presence was required at the coronation as a symbol of unity," Rowan scowled.
"He seems a reasonable man," Rowan said turning to the older Lion, "although I would think him clever enough to avoid prolonging the incident with some clever talk that his little march was simply a clever ruse to incite Thatcher to rebellion," Rowan sounding irritated for the first time.
Rowan scowled, "no I think a much better explanation is that he misunderstood the true meaning of the Queen's law and that Lord Thatcher acting in the queen's best interest over reacted a wee bit,"
"Though you know nothing settles tempers then a good tournament so why not settle this on the melee field rather then on the fields of Harrenhal where my father died."
"Lord Lannister as Lord Thatcher has made clear the choice is yours, accepting the position is negotiable, pretending to be happy at the coronation of our queen is not."

Lannister looked down to where his leg ended mid-thigh and said, "I think my Melee days are far behind me." He laughed and looked at Trant, "I have to admit, I was trying to get the goat of our Lord Thatcher. He seems so irritated I could not help prodding the beast. His father was so calm, do you think he lets his anger out to show how different he is from his paternal influence." Tyberion nodded sagely, "I think he does. His whole life can be chalked up to a child's rebellion against a father." He laughed again, "Of course with who his father is that will put him on a very good road."
Pulling a flask from a pocket he sipped at it easily, "I think I see a problem with your agreement. One you have not considered before now. After I have agreed, and we disband our army. It will be only natural for our Lords to want to attend the Tournament as well. But they will be immediately stopped I wager. Yet only Lord Bolton's force will be forced to send men home for the rest of the forces align perfectly with the Queen's rule."

Rowan nodded, "despite our best attempts we can rarely escape the shadow of our family tree."
Rowan shook his head, "while I know it is every man's dream to fight for honor at the tournament given the recent misunderstandings I think it might be necessary that only the greatest of your knights, and skilled men of the North attend," Rowan coughed
"Generally our tourneys focus on four main events of consequence: the joust, the melee, archery and the horse race so each Kingdom will have to limit their numbers to say their 10 best in each event.
"If your other Lords attend then they best keep their followers to an absolute minimum, but the Lord Paramounts will attend and with modest company or Seven help me if I will not raise a single finger when men like Thatcher and others clamor for their heads."
"Reasonable enough for you to command your banner lords to oblige" Rowan asked the Lion.
